Bobby:

Will do If I can find your number, my friend races vintage flat track & short track.

He has several bikes. Yamaha TT 500, Honda 350 twin & I think he still has his Penton Short tracker.

I'll see what I can setup!

Im sure its a whole 'nother thing doing it on two wheels - but willing to give it a try!

My dealer had a nice little short track out behind his shop. We used to have a lot of fun on it.

two strokes on a flat track teaches you more about throttle control than any other type of motorcycle competition, IMO.

You hafta really learn throttle control. No clutch, no gears/transmission, just insane power-to-weight ratio and instantaneous, explosive power.

I race my KX 250 set up for flattrack. It has improved my skills for moto. It has helped my entrance speed in the corners. Throttle control has improved. I think every moto guy should learn to race on the ovals. I've raced moto for 30 years, flattrack is just plain fun. Rubbin' is racin'. The steel shoe comes in handy sometimes.

My 98 cr 250 took me to two state champonships in 2000. I won the sporstman and 250 pro and took second in open pro. In open pro and sportsman I was racing agains rotax600's and yamaha 600's. Flatrtrack is the most fun I have had on two wheels. I really want to set up my 450 but there aren't many races around here any more.

We don't need no stinking front brakes! <img class= " title="Laughing"> That thing looks nasty in a good sort of way that's for sure.

Back in the mid-70's there was a place in Central PA that had a Sort Track and a MX. We'd slap on flat track tires and run the short track on Saturday night and then Sunday morning put the knobbies back on and run the MX on Sunday. Made for a fun as hell weekend, especially when you're 15-16 years old.

I know I'm getting old and remembering the "old days" with a lot of fondness but the sport seemed more fun back then. The big mini's thing was just starting so you didn't have this you have to start racing when you're 5 years old to make anything of yourself scenario they do now. No wonder most of these kids burn out before they can go Pro. I loved my racing days and even though my career didn't pan out it still has given me a ton of great memories...and more than my fair share of aches and pains as well (but they were well worth it in the long run).
