That's a great story. You deserve some props. On the way to a race one Sunday morning Something like that happened with me.A guy was stuck in his car while it was on fire. His seat belt wouldn't unlatch and his leg was broke. There had to be 4-5 of us that stopped to help though. I can't imagine no one stopping. I suppose that doesn't say much for the human race..

Okay, I'm at work now and a little more settled down this morning.
Yesterday afternoon was pretty wild and I was still pretty shook up until I went to bed about 10:30 last night. I even tried talking to Dave a little on messenger and my hands were shaking still.

Anyway, thanks for all the kind words. But really, I'm no hero or anyone special, I was just stopping to help someone who needed it and just happened to be the first one to him. Just doing what I would hope someone would do for me if I were in that situation.

As for the other thread about sending cards, I'm going to go over today to the hospital and see if I can get an address and get an update on Alan's condition and let everyone know.

As for the questions asked:
Yes, he had on a helmet.
No, I did not try to sell his bike for him (thanks for the laugh GuyCool .
He was riding a Honda Shadow cruiser-type bike.

you were in the right place at the right time. good job at calming him and just being there. no telling how many others would've just kept riding by.

Nice work Spinner. You should feel very proud you did a good thing.

I had a high school buddie get hit by a car on his motorcycle last Friday night and the driver ran. He had to have his leg amputated above the knee. He is a good person, teaches special ed. helps with the special olympics. It has been all over the local media. Well Tuesday of this week a 20 yr. old girl admitted to doing it. Said she fell a sleep at the wheel. I hope she gets put away for awhile. I dont understand how anyone could just leave somebody on the side of the road. Anyway thats cool what you did and you may have made a new friend for life.

Good for you Chuck. It's so crappy that most people won't even stop to help another person out these days. What is this world coming to? What a stressful deal.....go have a nice tall glass of Mtn Dew.....you deserve it! :D

Good job to you and the other good samaritan Spinner.

There are so many clueless idiots out there. I survived a three month stint with street bikes when I was 19. I learned that no matter how safely you ride, you will eventually get killed by some obliviously jackass if you ride long enough.

Good job, Dude! What you did meant so much to Alan and his family. You may have saved him from further injury, maybe even death, depending on how long it would have taken for someone who cared to stop.

You have reafirmed that MX people are great people.

I was involved in a somewhat similar situation 2 weeks ago. Does this mean #3 will happen to some other MD'er :?:
