Nope he hasn't had any podiums indoors on the yamaha. I was expecting a lot more out of him when i read his interview on racerx a couple weeks ago. Thought he'd be up there around the top 5 and maybe fighting for a podium finish. He still has a few rounds to right the ship. Hope this isnt affecting his confidence for outdoors and hopefully he comes out swinging.

Nope. He crashed out of the 450 main at NJ and finished 20th.

Barcias best SX finish on the YZF is a 4th at A2 2015. He has 7 podiums (2 wins) on it in MX and won a moto and his class at the MXDN . He came into SX last year hurt after that nasty euro SX crash and then dislocated his hip and this year he tore the thumb ligament. Between the injuries and the new bike his SX game has been way off.

Cole Seely finished 3rd last year in NJ.

Barcia sat out most of last years SX.

I stand corrected. He finished 4th in 2014 on the Honda. I thought it was last year and checked the stats, which show a 20, as in position, not points. Thanks DS

Sucks he re-signed with Yamaha through 2018. Was watching him in 2013 sx on YouTube and its night and day difference how much better he was on the Honda q

Justin shouldn't have went for the Jgr money and for a better team. Not to talk smack but Jgr seems to be in left field compared to the other factory's

yes because all the others have it figured out, how many riders have flip flopped on Front forks in the last 18 months ?

This is a perception that started with James Stewart and has manifested into a perceived reality.

Yep. He'd already have this title locked if he was just on a Honda.

I've already made one mistake in this thread, but I'm pretty sure Barcia's deal is 3yrs, 2015-2017.

I have an honest question not necessarily to you but more since you brought up that it is perceived. Has anyone done better once they moved to JGR? I don't mean that they grabbed one better result (likes Peick's lone podium) but more of a went from 11-12th to 5-6th type improvement.

Did he extend his original deal? I'm not doing well in this thread, but was somewhat certain that he had a three year contract.

yeah he extended his original contract.

I would say jgr is a pretty damn cool team and basically they can do with the bike whatever the f*** the want. looks like a good deal to me. if bambam could do better on a honda or ktm or whatever, who knows. no point of speculating. looks like jgr will extend their contract with yamaha this year anyways

Based on his performance outdoors last year, I would guess that the Yamaha, JGR, and Justin, are all well suited. I doubt he would have done better on another brand. Seems like he's in a little funk now though, as he usually performs at a high level when returning from injury. He's one of the few guys who has been able to beat Dungey in the last couple years. Hopefully he'll return to form soon.

Uh, actually people were constantly saying how poor he looked on the Honda when he moved up to the 450. Just because he looked good on one night or a couple doesn't mean he looked great on that Honda in SX because he didn't. He definitely had some flashes of brilliance here and there but by and large he didn't look very good and didn't finish very well on the CRF.

he signed with jgr, not yamaha. if jgr wouldn't be happy with the bike they could sign with a different manufacturer from '17

Really? Like who?

Do you really think it's that simple and easy for them to just flush down the drain all the money invested in development and equipment and just start over?

It takes countless hours and money to get things right for a rider of his level and to think that they can easily just do that overnight is ignorant.

Out of curiosity what brand is wanting and willing to just start investing tons of money into JGR above and beyond what they already have?

JGR has put themselves in a tough spot.

I disagree, TLD did fine when they moved from Honda to KTM. PC did fine when they went from Honda to Kawasaki. I am sure there are others...just not that common.

I think you see JGR on yellow and RCH on blue.

Barcia looked pretty damn good in MX on the jgr bike. If he was healthy coming into sx I'd imagine he would've been figniting for wins. Good hell he has been back for two races and he has really no incentive to push hard in sx. He just needs to stay healthy for mx.... Tomac has never been a good starter. SX is all about starts. He won the one track that suits his outdoor style. On top of that Tomac had major work done on both shoulders. This thread needs a revisit once MX gets under way.

but we are comparing SX seasons......waiting till MX season wont change the fact that everyone said these guys would do better on a bike that isnt a honda ...that was my point

Barica was 100% fit when he went to JGR.

Edit: by the way this isnt a hate on Barica or ET, just stating facts

Remember when Barcia totally dominated the 250 SX class on the CRF250? I wonder what happened to that Barcia.

With the exception of Roczen, Barcia still compares favorably to the guys he dominated that season. Bogle, Durham, Baggett, and Wharton provided most of the competition, although it wasn't much. Justin is still one of the top five guys in the sport when healthy.

read my post again.
if...could...
never said they want or will. simply saying they have a possibility to change manufacturer by the end of the year (not '18 as written in my first post, my mistake.) if they wanted to.

Yosh Suzuki is doing worse than RCH

Factory Yamaha (with a washed up old guy) is putting the beat down on JGR

Kawasaki was winning everything everywhere, now they can't hardly finish a race BUT a nobody jumps on a PC bike and podiums on the hardest track of the year.

It has nothing to do with the bikes!
