I just heard on the radio about the death and some serious injuries and Pala. Has anyone else heard anything?

Pala has very good flagging and personnel, I can't imagine what happened. Fridays are normally pretty busy.

Is it easy to cross the track jump into and another lane coming at you?

If it's not a landing then it could be head on.

Maybe in one place on the vet track. There's usually pretty good space between all the sections there.

Really sad indeed; I came to the track at 3:20 and they had sent everyone home. I talked briefly with the guy at the gate and as I understand it the crash happened on the vet track.

We were parked next to the rider who passed away. Very very sad.

Seems that maybe two riders where messing around, that part is speculation. This next part is for sure:: One bumped another which caused him to whiskey throttle over a berm. He wheelied into some riders who were waiting on the track. The guy who whisky'd, broke the neck of the guy who was innocently waiting on the track. Terrible.

We helped the deceased's friend pack up and help him take care of things. It was so awful. Poor guy was shaking. I felt so sorry for him and didn't know what to say or do, other than be there for him and just pack up the gear.

Bad, bad, and sad. The absolute worst part of our sport. We make jokes about
coming home with no one hurt and that makes it a good day but it really is no joke.
This stuff just tears up your insides to hear about. I can't imagine how the family
feels right now

Oh man that is terrible. It's awfully rough going through a track day after someone has passed away. Glad you helped the guy out , as I'm sure he was probably in a little shock. Wish the best for those guys and all their families.

This is terrible news. My prayers for the riders and families. I guess the details of what happened aren't certain but I'd like to think that the vet track(if that's where it happened) is for riders who are trying to lessen the risk a little, get some laps in and make it to work the next day. Tragic.

Huge bummer. Very sad for his friends and those that had to experience this.

Please clarify "waiting on the track". Does that mean they were sitting on the track having a break or sitting beside the track waiting to enter the track?

I haven't been there for a few years but yes. The vet track used to have 1 entrance and you would wait until it was clear to join in. It was also a place you could "chill" after a few laps and wait to go back on.

Hate hearing stuff like this. I was just surprised to hear it on KNX, which is the big newsradio station in L.A.
