What's up guys...an AMA guy that works the gate told me the gate is new this year and requires a harder "stomp" than previously. My guess is there was a new guy this weekend than underestimated the force and trajectory of his calculated stomp.

Also, the gate DID flinch a hair because I was staring at it, saw it move and knew right away my decent start was about to get red flagged.

Sure did clear things up. So now we know to leave on a flinch or shake and not the gate drop........lol. Wink

Sorry for the sarcasm but I will keep leaving on the gate drop.

In other words the gate flinched "a hair" you waited for it to drop and got a good start......then they red flagged it because unlike you, Bagget mistimed the gate and got stuck in it. Thats got to make you a little angry!?

Until there is a definition of "malfunction" in the rule book....it is subjective to how the AMA ref thinks and feels at that particular moment. IMO here are some things that could be considered a malfunctioning gate: 1) If any 2 gates don't drop simultaneously, evenly and completely (without someones front wheel being under it). 2) If the entire gate is held up unreasonably long to the point that racers turn their attention away to see what's wrong...then it drops. 3) If it drops before the 30 sec board goes sideways 4) If somehow the gate bounces (weird but I've seen it...I mean I seen it). 5) Somehow it doesn't fall all the way...maybe because it became unhinged or for whatever other reason...but that would fall under #1 of this list. I didn't see any of that happen.....and again, I ask, if the gate malfunctioned, what did they do to fix it?

Guy in doghouse moves twice as if his 1st drop didn't work, guy went on first movement so gate must've flinched yes?
