Is this day and age, seems like we could have someone with a blue tooth and a iphone giving the play by play at each round and broadcast it live over a P2P. I nominate 500guytv for the west cost rounds. It would be truly epic if he did it in his chinese immigrant voice.

I'll be the first to volunteer for Detroit.!!

LindaA posted this over at Motonews:

Thanks for all of your comments guys. Contrary to what some of you wrote, you and your opinions are very important to us and always have been. While I won't elaborate on the decision that was made, it had much to do with the current state of the economy and of the off-road motorcycle market in addition to the high cost of production to put together a quality broadcast. I'm sure many of you have noticed that there's been a lot of belt-tightening across the board in the industry this year. We are no different. It's also important to note that with the XM Sirius Partnership, XM was no longer interested in carrying the broadcast this year either.

If you'd like to send in your thoughts and opinions, please use this form that I created: http://fs3.formsite.com/ccems/form777540053/index.html. I'll make sure that the appropriate people get to see anything that you submit. We've always listened to what you had to say about the broadcast and our website to make it better for you and enjoyed bringing the show to your home every Saturday. No matter what, we will do our best to keep our fans at home as much a part of the action on the track as we can. Let it be known that we're already trying to implement some new things with the Supercross Raceday Live plans for this coming weekend which include video clips of Jim Holley and Jason Weigandt and an online interactive blog. Please check it out and give it a chance. Let us know what you think!

Remember - Anaheim 1 is live on Speed this weekend. Don't forget that!!! You'll still be able to tune in from home this Saturday on Speed at 10pm ET/7pm PT.

Ken Hudgens our VP of TV and Marketing will be available at the Anaheim Press Conference this Friday to answer any questions that media has about this also.

Thanks everyone!

Damn, that sucks. I really enjoyed the live webcast much more than I enjoyed watching it the next day or the next week on tv. Listening to the webcast while watching the transponder times, you could really get a feel for what was happening with every rider on the track. While it's nice to see the action on tv, you just don't get the full picture of the race since much of the field receives no air time. I would gladly pay for live audio.
Guess this kills off the Thumpa Report.

I don't buy the whole "belt tightening" deal. I'm sure if they needed to there would be many other ways to cut costs that we the fans would never notice. This is a direct slap in the face to us.

And btw, we will still be in the DMXS chat every race day. Not sure how it's going to go but we'll see come Saturday.

I dont get the money reasons. The team are still working their butts off every weekend on all these new projects. Only diff is when the racing starts the broadcast stops and thats the only part we as fans want. Most of their hard work will now be wasted (waste of money too).

BTW I cant watch it live on Speed in Australia.

It would have made much more sence to charge listeners a fee if money was tight on a trial basis for 2009.

it just shows you what a joke this sport really is. It can't even support a fucking web cast of the event.

The nationals will also be a joke now that there is only 1 day of racing with the Amateurs running on Sunday. Pro MX can't support itself. Its unbelievable!!

I don't buy the money saving thing.
If they can do the pit coverage, pre and post stuff,
they can do the races.

I believe they're just trying to force us to watch the TV Show.

Which makes me wanna skip HiPoint this year.

This is sad news. I actually thought it was evolving and getting bigger and better each year. I remember they even did video on an mx round or two before. I would have paid to have it....

DC has nothing to do with Supercross. It was not part of the deal. DC and group have the outdoors.

Supercross is under Feld Entertainment this year.

Dude get off it.

DC has nothing to do with the running of SX and he sure as hell doesn't make the decisions about the Web Cast.

Why would he make a statement about something he doesn't control ?

Although I have Speed TV, I agree that the radio commentary provides a richer, fuller appreciation of the overall race, not just the top three riders. They cover ALL the passes and ALL the crashes.

I would happily pay $20 per year for access to Supercross Live. If you aren't willing to fork over the cost of one case of beer to keep SuperCross Live going, you aren't much of a fan. Part of the reason we don't get more mainstream sponsors is the MX and SX fans are cheap and complain a lot.

I would have rather had the TV broadcast taken away than the webcast. Even with the live tv coverage we've had the webcast was still a better experience.
