So I had some time on the fork this weekend and my overall impression is this... The fork is ok over fast breaking bumps and the rough but it's a trade off with air pressure for getting the fork to settle into turns and still be good in the fast chatter. It's absolutely awful on slap down landings it sends a jolt through your entire body.. Needless to say I'm buying another set of cone valves. I just can't understand why wp can't produce a great stock fork.

Probably because they know guys are lining up to pay another $3000 for their cone valves?

Mxa has a new video up of the 250fe. The forks look really high in the clamps. Wonder what that measurement is? Anybody have any idea?

I saw that also and i dropped my jaw. Why would anyone want to run them that high?

I got like 3 hours of rough sticktly track time with them. To tell you the honest truth there just not good enough. They ride super high in the stroke and if you release air to compensate the stability in fast sections go out the window. And the first time you have to land hard off anything be prepared!!!! I had cone valves last year so that's kinda what I'm used too. None the less I bought another pair and am picking them up in the morning. I just can't justify throwing money out the window at these forks at least with the cone valves you get nearly all your money back when you sell them. I'm sure they can be made great but I'm not willing to spend a grand that I'll never see again for just mediocre forks. But hey I understand this options not for everyone but in my experience it's the best one.

3 hours, lol. Most forks aren't even broken in properly before 10 hours.

Plus, you really have to get the shock dialled before concluding the forks are not good.

Anyway, congrats to you and good for you for keeping the economy going.

The forks just have that feel to them that's not going away with breaking in I also rode a bike with a lot of hours with them and they felt the same. I'm sure a lot of people will be happy there just not for me that's all. I think when you have had the best everything else just doesn't cut it. Don't get me wrong they are good forks and much better than last year just a long way from the feel that the cone valve offers

Interesting... Wonder if there is some testing to be done with them–Keefer's feedback sounded a little more hopeful.

The WP Air forks are "better" then the full Ohlins forks if you ask me, i have ran both.

Set SAG to 108/38 (make sure you have the spring to get those values). If you run SAG of below 108, you need to switch rear springs to softer ones. 108-110/41-55 is NOT an ok scenario.

Running stock springs (oversprung) and setting SAG to 105 makes any fork feel like shit.

With the right rear springs, you drop the pressure in fork until you feel the bike turns. Could go as low as 10-10.3 bar on a 350/450.

In a review that I read, the AER forks are longer than the 4CS forks and therefore must be slid up in the clamps 12mm. That settles down the front and puts the geometry back where it was initially designed. I haven't ridden the bike yet to validate (April delivery) but this is what I read.

There is a thread on thumpertalk about how to extend them back out. Something about pumping the pressure really high and pushing the wheel down at same time til the fully extend and equalize. Search AER fork over there. Got 8 hrs on mine and no problems so far fortunately

Just had this happen to my 17 today, does anyone know the fix? Do I just need that top seal pictured in the link?
