First jump in video he tripled followed by double into the corner, second jump maybe he was going for a quad then singling into the corner. ?? Or maybe he just overshot the triple in the second jump. ?? Either way impressive!

Pastrana's injuries by then included multiple concussions, mulitple knee rebuilds, dislocated spine, shoulders and multiple breaks...

AC has two shoulder separations (due to genetics) and a couple broken limbs, no ligaments.

Worlds apart.
ACs injury list does pale in comparison to TP's.

That said, his shoulder injuries were much more serious than a separation. "Separations" are not actually injuries to the shoulder joint, but ligament tears at the AC joint. The recovery from separations is quite good unless you get to grade 4+. Separations that severe often involve other injuries... AC suffered true shoulder dislocations. The ligament damage associated with dislocations is harder to repair, and the prognosis is not as good.

Consider yourself lucky not to know more about shoulder anatomy!

That over jump on the second one rattled his teeth, but it was a 10 on the cool factor!

Am I the only one who thinks it's odd that he's allowed to race an amateur SX when he won a pro Arenacross about a month ago? Surely if you win or are even competitive at that level you cease to be an amateur?

I agree with you. And to call that an "amateur" race is a bit silly in my opinion. There are so many kids there at these "amateur" races with equipment on the pro level and training programs at a level that should not be called "amateur racing".

But it will be fun to watch Forkner in the summer, lets hope that he stays healthy!

I think AC still has it in him. So young and so much talent. His track record of who he's beaten speaks for itself.

Forkner has definitely impressed me, seems like the A class of recent years has had a tad bit of decline as far as elite talent, but I think his bracket shows promise. His stature and riding style (tucked elbows, small frame) does remind me a little of Zach Bell however. I'd hate to see him take abuse at an outdoor and pay for it while pushing the pace.

Forkner is gonna be more like the next Webb not AC. Smooth and calculated.
If by smooth and calculated you mean cannot control his emotions in practice? Cooper will be fine, but his maturity level is light years behind AC. Huge chip on his shoulder, which is likely from his amateur career racing AC and it does help him succeed. Needs to get that in check though, to get to the next level, professionally (see JA 21).
P.S. for all of you saying Forkner is the next big thing, but then saying AC is done in the next breath, are really contradicting yourselves. AC was far more dominant as an amateur, yet now he's done? I like all three and look forward to the day they can all do battle.

I think the sport is in good hands for the future. AC, Webb, Martin, Plessinger, Mookie, potentially Forkner. Could be some good battles for years to come.

Edit: and before anyone bashes me, yes I'm sure I forgot some other guys.

You guys post like Adam is a washed up old man being ocer thrown by some young gun. One is 19 and the other is 17, Adam is still younger than every other rider. I predict Adam will be fine.

Not saying AC does not have the skills or isnt fast. Looking back at his results, especially in SX and in the moto's he came back from injury for in 2015 were impressive. However, he's also lined up 19 times since 2013. 19 out of 99 gate drops. During those 19 he had great results and dealt with injury or illness for the other 80. I truly do hope he does turn it around and makes an even bigger name for himself at this level. But it seems that consistency is not his strong suit at this level. Hoping he comes out swinging again during the outdoors and gets a full season under his belt.

Agreed. He was too impressive in those opening supercross races for me to write him off. He'll be back.

We say that, but the prime of a pro SX/MX racer is usually 21-25. You need to have a solid career on the 250 and moved up to the 450 by age 20 to get the maximum potential out of your career. This allows one year to get used to the 450 before you hit your prime. These injuries are eating away at his career potential, whether we admit it or not.

i believe he was only eligible to race the ProSport classes, not the 250A or 450A classes

The thing that has the OP comparing them is a couple years ago AC was supposed to be the next big thing. He was plauged with injuries and hasn't lived up to his potential(yet). Now Forkner is a complete animal on the bike. Main difference between the two is Forkner will come into the pro with a lot of experience racing the 250. AC rushed it in my opinion and Forkner is doing everything right. Excited to see what this kid can do in outdoors this year. And the ideal situation would be AC heals up and they have some epic battles on the track.

That's what it takes to get these guys straight from the amateurs to the pros though. They need to already be on the equipment and pushing the pace so that when they come in they can do what Stroupe, Barcia, Canard, and Tomac all did. Which was come in and win immediately.

I know and that is a good thing. Just like the EMX series in Europe, the top kids are not amateurs. I just dislike the words "amateur racing" since they are basically junior professionals!

I'm going to go out a massive limb here and say that Herlings will move up next year. If I were someone at KTM, AC would be the guy I get to replace him. Give AC a chance to reinvent himself. Plus he's still young, with the 23 year old age limit bollocks in the GP's he could still get 2 (maybe 3) years on a 250.. I think a change would be good for him, and the publicity KTM would get would be really good. I can't see his results getting him a factory ride anywhere else in the states, unless he kills it outdoors this year..

Obviously I don't work for KTM, and obviously AC would have to want to go there.. I do actually get that, just for the record.

I was tremendously impressed with AC's SX riding. Not just that he could win, but he was jumping things the big bikes weren't trying. He seemed to have a natural McGrath-like feel for SX.

Haven't seen enough of his outdoor riding yet. Hope he can stop the shoulder injuries.

Forkner looks good.

I feel bad for AC. Seems like a good kid who puts in the work but just can't stay healthy.

I'd say he still has 5-6 more seasons in his career before he peaks out. Still plenty of time to get it together I think

Yeah I think he won Pro Sport and 250A.

Not only is he eligible for pro racing, he has won a pro race in an officially sanctioned series. If that doesn't disqualify you I don't know what does.

I agree. I feel really bad/sorry for the kid. He definitely has time to make it happen, but my expectations for him have dropped significantly since that first SX season when he came out swinging HARD.

Forkner is going to kill it in 2017 SX. I'd wager big money on a SX title in his rookie season.

but herlings at that age was already world champion in MX2 class and was in his 3rd year . .... Forkner will be 18 this year as an amature ??
maybe in europe the age limit of turning pro is just younger , most real good talents like Roczen, Herlings,Prado ,Pootjes are 15/16 when they turn pro and enter the MX2 ... how old were Webb, Martin, Ac when they turned pro ?
