Moral of this story, parting gifts from Honda are painful. The gift that keeps on giving.
I dont think you can blame Honda for his crash, that Honda was getting him massive wins prior to that nasty crash. Not as though the bike had a failure that caused the crash eh?

just to set the record straight, I never said Tomacs results are complete shit. I simply said I believe Kawasaki is in panic mode because his results are not as expected at this point. This is MY opinion. I don't know this as a fact, thats why I said opinion. And to create a debate. Guy B coming in changing the title with the intent to belittle MY opinion is wrong, imo.
And I think you saying they're in full panic mode belittles what Eli and the team do on a weekly basis. That's my opinion.

You have to hang up a few scalps on occasion to remind the settlers that there are dangers in the dark recesses of the woods. Wink

Still mad at my '87 CR250 for spitting me over the bars, on a few occasions, 29 years ago.

In a bit of irony, went to an '88 KX250 and my results...well down they went. Missed that fickle red mistress.

thats fine Guy B. Your opinion is your opinion. Thats my point. My opinion is mine, just like you. so why in the world edit my title? If I had to guess, 25% of the threads on Vital are of a different opinion of yourself, is that a fair percentage?
Should you go to each one and change the title to what you believe? Come on Guy, just admit you screwed up. I do it all the time, ask my wife!

I guess you missed the early days of Motodrive, when that kind of thing was common. Back then we also had titles under each name, which was fertile territory for editorializing. Wink

With Barcia and JS7 out, I expected better results from Kawasaki. Seemed like he gelled with the CRF better. I think when we get to outdoors we might see more green up top.

It's all a work in progress. It was interesting to listen to him a couple weeks ago, talking about how when he first started riding again, he was using a different suspension setting because of his shoulder(s) than he's using now. As his strength gets better, the suspension settings change.

Does he look better now than in the beginning of the season? Yes. Is the field extremely stout? Yes. Will he get better? We'd expect so.

Bad starts and 17 minute races do not mix well. Second if top 5 is a disaster there is a lot of riders in trouble.

Guy , Eli looking better than the beginning of the season is up for debate. Dont toss that around like a fact. He is still falling . His final 5 laps still have too many mistakes. His starts are still mediocre. His results are the same all season. Right now he is a 5th place guy, Just like A1.

Who do you move out of the way for Will Hahn, currently 12th in the points, to be in a regular 5th-10th place?

5th) Tomac
6th) Reed
7th) Musquin
8th) Millsaps
9th) Brayton
10th) Weimer

Short is back.
Baggett, Stewart are expected back.
Barcia, Tickle are out.
Canard & Pieck have missed 2 races each.

Yeah, Dungey has been a cut above the rest, but there is some serious, deep talent out there.
I believe once Hahn gets into a routine and more comfortable that he should be the same caliber as weimer, brayton, and millsaps on a given night. I get it, right now he is consistently in the 12-14th spot but I do think progress could be made to get him into the top 10 consistently. We'll see. Never afraid to say I could be completely wrong lol.

Yep. The others are going way too fast to start 10th all the time. That's got nothing to do with shoulders and has been a problem for Eli. It needs to be solved.

He's never been a great starter, unfortunately. In supercross you have to be great starter to win championships. There's no doubt ET is an animal on a bike and that's why he does great outdoors. You have time to catch guys and let them tire out. I have no doubt he will be title contender outdoors. Until he can nail top 4 starts in supercross he will always struggle against someone like Dungey.

Not sure where you're getting your stats. He raced 2 full seasons on the 450 for Honda. 2014 he came in late after injury and his best finish was 2nd. 2015 he won round 2. I guess you're counting a few races on the 450 when he was still on 250's as a season?

Walking on eggshells. That's the simplest way to put it. We live in a politically correct society, and that spills over into these message forums, too.

There was nothing wrong with the title heading of your post. But there are people who will not like that.

"In my opinion"
"Just saying"

yup obviously i count them. should have said over 3 years rather then 3 seasons as it was not a full 450 for him in '13. still took him 15 races. bottom line, it took him a while to dial in everything and so it will with the new bike. people just remember his last races where he simply embarrassed everyone and expect him to continue like that after everything what happened. those guys work hard and are not stupid. it will turn around eventually.

I have to disagree with the armchair doctor's saying that Eli's shoulders should be completely healed by now. I severely broke my collar bone last June and it required surgery. Although mine was bad, I'm sure it wasn't nearly as severe as Eli's injuries and he mangled both shoulders. My shoulder is much better, but is definitely not 100%. On my last visit with the surgeon, I expressed my concern. He told me that everything actually looks very good and it may take up to a year for the tissue to totally heal. He also told me he felt I was trying to rehabilitate my shoulder a little too quickly. All I know is, I still have some inflamation, so to think Eli's shoulders are 100% is a little optimistic imo.

Eli's finished last year up to Atlanta: 20,1,3,4,3,5,7. How is this much different than this year? He didn't get strong until toward the end of the series.

Eli Tomac is a professional racer that gets paid 7 figures every year by Kawasaki and all the other sponsors. He is expected to win. One podium is not good enough. Everyone knows that he is extremely fast and should be better, it's that simple. Dungey is 47 points ahead of Tomac after only 7 races and i would argue that the expectations are fairly similar when it comes to RD and ET.
