Church bus bike hauler?

Anyone ever set up a church type bus for racing? I got an opportunity to buy a used church bus with only 50k on it it's a diesel which I like and it fairly long has brand new flooring all the way through. My friend bought it to turn in to a party bus for car shows I'm thinking about doing a box van type setup with a well and a little changing/sleeping area. Was just wondering if anyone had any pics of one set up for moto

I've seen a few over the years done up pretty nice. I remember seeing one somewhere, I think at Washougal, with a wood burning stove and chimney out the roof. Looked loke a roach from the outside, but inside was wood flooring and marble counters.

We have a fellow vet racer in the area who uses a used church van to haul and camp at the races. He is everything but a church advocater. It still has the church stickers on the side and I'm sure people are shocked when he flips them off, puffing on a stogie, van full of dirt bikes and empty beer cans. He's a riot, but we are secretly planning a late night "paint stripping" at the next race. For humanity sake.

Hillbilly is the one to ask on this one.

He used a school bus for years.

Might just be a cagiva thing.

I think it might have filled the "party bus" role on a few occasions too.

Yep,sure did. Went everywhere, on the beach at Daytona,Lorettas. Atlanta sx.

Pull into a gas station in SC once and laid a 6pack on the counter. The dude looked at me the schoolbus,me,the bus. And said " man,i got to see a drivers license" I flipped it out and he said " Tennessee,shoulda known" hehe.


Had more fun it than allowed by law.

No church bus conversion is complete until you hang a house window AC unit out of one of the side windows. Preferably with a lot of plywood and caulk.

Even better - how about when they crudely hack through the sheet metal, jam the A/C unit in there, support it with some 2x4's and wood screws, then use about a hundred tubes of silicone around the edges to "seal" it (drip marks are mandatory).

I put mine inside and built a duct system.

From the front of the wheel wells back was bike with a wall and door.

2 bunks,bath and shower behind the driver, left the right side open back to that wall to see dipshits in the blindspot.

Had cabinets and another bed just below those windows.

Hauled 6 bikes plus pitbike ,water,tools, generator.

Plus,you could get on the roof and watch with no fear of falling thru.

Gave 2k for it and it was like new,from Pennsylvania i think.

DO IT!!

I bought a good E350 Uhaul that I have been converting over the winter. My only advice is to use lots of screws and glue to keep stuff from twisting and popping. I started a "build Thread" in the race-shop if you would like more ideas..

I had fun pulling out the throttle stop and getting out the drive seat,ducking down where i could just see out the windshield and letting cars go by looking like no one is driving.

Oh man,good times.

Good idea, do you know what engine it is? I would stay away from the Ford 6.0L diesel. Had lots of problems with the two I had. Just my opinion. Hope it works out for you.

It's the 7.3 I worked at a ford dealer for 2 years lol I've don't more of those 6.0 head gaskets than I care to admit

Nick Baker had one. Lot's of 'rider meetings' in that thing... I remember one time at Cathey's Creek, Nick was parked along the edge of the road. The racing was over. The party was well under way. A guy in an old Cutlass half rag top was leaving. When he got up next to the bus, Nick kicked the left inside wall really hard. It made a big racket. Nick stuck his head out the window and yelled, 'Hey! Did you hit my $400 bus with your $200 car?'.... It was pretty funny.

i knew a dude up in Indiana that had an ambulance he used to haul his kids bike to the races.

he didn't convert anything.

With gas about cheap now you afford to drive a schoolbus,but when it was 2.50 and above no way.

Mine was international 395 gas, took about 200 bucks to gatorback Daytona and back in late 80s

Dont recall gas price then but here it is 1.35 now,bet that is close.
