I have an 04 KX 250 that has been sitting after I ran the first tank of gas through it. My track got buried in trees in a tornado and I haven't had the time to clear it out.

I have a 02 250 yz, I wipe down a couple of times a year, I will not let it collect dust!! But it's been sitting in the garage for 6 years. I'm 54 and both my knees and back are tweeked, but I WILL ride again. The funniest thing I hear from people is, why don't you just sell it, WHAT ????
An inversion table and Tumeric would help with your tweaked backed.

Rob Kinsey-glad you have your Maico

To all: One thing that stands out in several of these posts is the importance of keeping perspective in the area of risk vs reward. I believe we can extend our careers by not riding like there is a factory ride contract depending on our finishes.

This becomes an even bigger issue with every passing decade IMO.

I have a mint RM125 collecting dust at my parents... I live in London, for starters I don't have a garage here, heck, I've only got a bedroom here. haha. Even if I had a garage, think it would last 4 weeks in London before i twas stolen. So my RM sleeps at my parents in the suburbs. For me to go ride is a 2/3 day commitment, 2 hour train back day before, riding, then 2 hours back the next morning. I work freelance too, so my cash flow usually dictates how often I get out. Last summer was barely at all, but the year before I got out a bunch. I do think eventually I'll move out of the city and put bikes higher up the priority list. I will say, jumping through these hoops does make the sessions special even if I do suck! hahaha.

I have a 1997 KTM 250 SX collecting dust at my parents house. I wanted to get rid of it when I bought a 2007 KTM 450 SX (which is long gone), but my Dad wanted to keep it, plus I couldn't sell it for anything anyway. It is buried away in my Dad's barn in Kansas. I will bust it out for some trail riding some day.

Got my first bike in 1968...a blue Yamaha YM-1 305.....Haven't been without a ride of some sort in over 48 years, but a few of those bikes had a bit of dust collecting for a while. Bikes in the following order:

'73 Yam RD350 Purchased new)
'72 Yam XS-2
'75 YZ 360B mono (purchased new)
'75 Built a C&J framed Marzzocchi/White Brother YZ 360 motocross
'78 Took 3 years off, leaving my C&J sitting in the garage while I recovered from a torn ACL and went to school
'81 IT465
'83 YZ490
'85 IT 200 (purchased new
'88 YZ 250
Transplanted '86 YZ 490 motor into an '88 YZ 250 chassis
'95 Huseburg FE501 (purchased new)
'C&J framed YZ 360A

'06 YZ 450 (purchased new)
'85 Yam V-Max
'10 YZ450 (purchased new)
'72 Yam LS-2 100 twin (with 336 miles!)
'07 1800 Gold Wing
'06 Gold Wing trike (wife refuses to travel to Cali on any of my dirt bikes)
'05 EGorr YZ295

I still have the C&J 74 YZ360A (202lb vintage open class monster), the '75 YZ125B, '72 XS-2, "85 V-Max, '05 EG 295, '2006 Honda Trike, '72 LS-2 100 twin, ,2006 YZ 450

My main wheels are the '05 Eric Gore 295, the '06 YZ 450, and the Honda trike. The V-Max hasn't been licensed in 3 years, and The C&J '74 360 is my occasional vintage ride. I love'm all and will keep my finger in the pot until I simply can't do it anymore. My son will have to figure out what to do with them when I'm gone, as I'll won't be able to pull the trigger on any of my "babies".. Life has been a good ride...literally...! Smile

Wow! You started your motorcycle love affair with some pretty sweet rides.Wink

Had me a "67" Kawasaki 120 too, for my FIRST bike, but it was not purchased new.(lucky bastard)...

As for the reason why my current ride is collecting dust, I have no health insurance!!!!!!!
