72 125 Penton? My friend with the 37 acre field had one and along with my 72 250 AJS hit races in eastern Indiana and all over Ohio. Did those green Pentons have a leather strap on the gas tank? CRS.
Had the 72' yes the rubberband strap we called it..should bring this type back, hell Ford did it with the Mustang and payed dividends so others followed

Holeshot on my 74 and a half 400GP Maico same track but in the fall. And after a dozen plus trips to the welder chasing cracks in Husky frame related to our ill advised forward slanted shock mods.

I remember Barry Ratclff (sp) and Glen Estes but I never raced at Glen Estes. Think they had more night races and the main place we raced at night was Dirt Country in Blanchester

I see your early Southwick 125 pic and raise you four. The year is 74, perhaps 75. I am #783.

Start 125 Novice. Sometimes, there would be eight heats of 125 novice.
Note the long sleeve T shirt and work boots

First Turn

Two turns after the spectator jump. Finally got MX boots but still the T shirt.

Three turns after the spectator jump. Never been a bad pic taken of this corner.
Note the amount of fans. Local races used to get 7000 people.

125 Amateur start

Very cool, funny I still have pictures of my dad putting me on the back of his Hadaka in the 60ds. Funny, how I'm almost 50 and I still remember holding on for dear life! He even stuck me on the back...I guess that made us tough. Great picture and memories, keep up the good posts!

Was this a NEMA race?.. The yellow fence looks pretty new in your pics... They put it up for the National and my pic is from about a month after.. I have more ..
I went 3-1 in the 85cc novice class that day. I also normally raced 100cc novice but not that day.
I live about 10 miles from that property now and go walk around there sometimes.

This was an NESC race in 1978. It was the 100cc novice class. It was my second race ever. I lived in Narragansett back then. It was cool because I would ski there also.

Your photo is a better representation of how steep the hills were. Ah, the good ole days.
