Listened to his interviews with holly and on TV, he needs to believe in himself that he belongs here, like the chad of old man, he rode on dung like his shadow man, that was epic, he needs to believe that he can challenge for the title, he looks great. He looks happy n fast too! Light that fire chad, you can do this, you are title contender material my brother!

I was about to say...

even in his darkest days getting hammered by stew and Carmichael he believed he could do it. Probably one of the few people I've seen in the last twenty years that could put up with the ass whoopings those two guys gave him at times and not give up. Trust me, a LOT of dudes would've given up a long time ago.

While dungey might be "the guy".. Chad couldn't give a rats ass. He's faced the 2 most intimidating dudes in the last twenty years, dungey don't scare him a bit.

No offence but I don't think he needs you to tell him that.

No man, sounds like he happy to be up there, he needs that eye of the tiger man! That fire he had when he raced rc. That reed is a deadly reed, he rode that race like Webb, went anywhere he wanted, like a boss!

Rocky 3, he did not believe bro, felt nothing, then Apollo lit him up man! Eye of the tiger bro! I know chad, hung with him a bit, cool dude he is, and I know when he's confident, he's deadly.

He's fine.

If Pourcel didn't jack him in that corner and he got to the front before Dungey the lap times show he'd have likely stayed there.

Starts in this field are super important. Chad went forward 4 or 5 spots this week and the same last week but he's gotta start well and if he can see the lead he can push, just like always!

Dungey's A1 ride to me was alpha male shit though, get knocked down, lose your rhythm, go past them all again and didn't finish that far behind Anderson. Tough to beat but you gotta start there to do it.

Also - San Diego was a GREAT track for Dungey. Not that he has bad ones, but he's amazing in long flat turns and turns in general... hugs his line, never steps, keeps momentum. Chad's strengths weren't really present on that track, 90s and small whoops don't help.

He admitted in his interview he was losing a lot in the turns. How much improvement anyone can make at that level is questionable to me but he seemed pretty adamant where he was losing out. But then again, he said he was going to work on starts after A1 and it seemed to have yielded results.

Only 2 riders in the 48's on a track where is was evident that it would be difficult to find much time...especially after they flattened the whoops.

He was very chuffed in that interview and even admitted he was riding at his maximum level...can only wonder if Dungey was as well.

I really want to see him stay healthy the entire year to see the potential...we havent seen him without an issue regarding injury since 2011

Chad is such a bad dude. I watched the 2005 San Diego round after the main last night. He straight up hunted RC down and passed him - while lapping 3rd and 4th - and won.

11 years later he's out there battling for the win again. I wish I could do that!

Damn good looking gear set too. That blue/white/black Shift stuff looks clean & takes me back to the day when teams wore marching colors. Looks tons better than the multi-color fluorescent gear most riders are wearing now.

Oh, yeah...Chad is a badass. I'd like to see him bust off a win!

Me thinks Chad, the wily old vet that he is, is playing head games and setting his competition up.....

Lol, this guy serious or what!

From what i've seen, CR is in champ mode right now, no cockiness, confident and staying humble under the radar. I like where he is at.. Best he has been in years

How about on TV, the SD1 2016 podium interview when Dungey referred to Reed's performance as "I hope I can do that well when I'm really old like that" - or something very similar.

Whatever RD5 said he immediately caught himself and downplayed calling out Reed as pretty old, it was quite funny...

The bus is filling up fast again. Lots of shiny new supporter shirts on show too, fresh out the packet.

That is called respect. Dungey was very respectful of Chad being up there and having a good race. Ryan knows that if Chad gets moving in the direction Carmichael always talks about, it could be a very interesting year. Same as 2011 Sx and Mx. Ryan would be a little faster but Chad is smart enough to hold him off. Amazing little tactics Chad has up his sleeve with passing lapped riders right before the turn and cause Ryan to lose time waiting behind them through the corner and have to catch back up again. Only for Chad to do it all over again. haha

Good ride for Reed... Would have liked to see Kenny stay on the track to see some racing up front...While admitting Reed was at his max, I still think Dungey could have picked up the pace if needed - dude looked SMOOTH.

sadly, The race for the top 2 spots was over on lap 4 ---- the rest of the guys seemed to have lost a lot of ground while that Friese ship was going backwards....

It is only round 2 and while reed needs to " work on some things" he looks really good... You still have 4-5 other guys who are doing the same...so hopefully it leads to some great racing and not a Dungey run-away...

Slow riders getting good starts always makes for tight racing, but you've gotta get by quick
