The 350 is a great bike! We all here have rode them since 2011 when they came out. The 2011 and 2012 were a little soft in the power department, 2013 to 2015 were great bikes and made a lot more power!! The 2016 is by far the best! The motor is a lot more friendly, allowing you to lug it more but still has great over rev. The chassis is also awesome, the rear end of the bike stays planted and turns very well! One of our good customers has a 2015 Yzf 450 and yes it did pull me the first 20 feet out of a corner a little, once the 350 gets in the meat of the power and into the rev's the 350 pulled so much harder. The 4cs forks are in need of some work, but there are a lot of great company's that can make these work. The best and most expensive is going with a set of Wp Cone Valve forks. We have found that a good revalve can make the fork a lot better for the average rider. Any more question please let me know, Thanks Nick.

I've got an '11 350 that I bought new (time flies), and I now absolutely love it. The engine has always been great....but it took me a bit to adapt to the chassis and suspension. I've got some engine work done, pipe, remap, high compression piston, mild port work, etc. and it really runs well. Sadly the 2015 engine was stronger than mine out of the box....I can only imagine how well the 2016 runs.

KB5 did my suspension, and after a dedicated setup day I now have the bike working excellent. I had plans of buying a 2016, but I have got mine working so well I cannot justify it. That being said I am buying a '17 husky 350...just because Cool

I have had 5 people who rode my bike, and within 3 months were all on 350's (some Huskies, some KTM's) My old man is 67 and is absolutely in love with the thing.

The 350 awards aggressive riders...it's gotta be ridden hard to get the full potential, if you wanna be lazy buy the 450....but if you want a bike that can do anything, buy a 350
... And even though I was on this guys bike for less than 10 minutes, you could tell that it's begging to be revved. To more you twist, the happier it is! I really liked how nimble it felt. I raced Hondas for years and recently rode my friend's '15 yz450. I just feel like the bike rode me--instead of the other way around.

It's funny. I think about buying the yzf also because of the price, only to spend money trying to cut weight. I wish I could ride the KTM 450 so I could put this to bed!

If you are a fast Vet then yes this could be the bike for you, you have to ride them like a 250 and not all Vets are able to do that...depends what Vet class you are in I guess

So would I have to ride the 350 as hyper as I ride my 250 2 stroke? I am trying to under stand what you guys mean by you have to rev it. I would assume the 350 has more low end and torque than my KX250, but, still need to rev it to get the most of it.

Just curious on it since I have never ridden a modern 450 so I would not know how to compare my KX250 to a 350 or 450.

Yes and no. To really make the power/bike work you have to be much more aggressive than on a 450, as they lack the torque off the bottom. There is plenty of power on tap...it is just higher up in the RPM range

A tree fiddy is much more forgiving than a 250 two stroke...and they sure as hell hook up a lot better. I also have an 06 KX 250 that I love in the woods...but for the track there is no substitute for a well setup four banger.

I was in the last generation to still grow up on two strokes, and I think my riding style shows that....i.e a lot of clutch work and a lot of RPM's so the 350 engine fits my style to a "T". I still have fun on a 250f, but I'm 175lb now and not in shape, nor do I like rebuilding them...and my 350 has been nothing but dead reliable for 160+ hours.

I have a '15 350 and you definitely do not have to rev it all the time to go fast enough for me. I am not a rev'r and I have plenty of fun on it. I also prefer the way a bike handles over bumps lower in the revs and that's another reason I don't rev it unless I am on a smooth straight. I just went up two teeth on the rear sprocket, had fc revalve the forks, changed the bar bend, and I am really happy on it.

I would just say it has a fun amount of power so I am more comfortable (confident) on it. I always seem slightly timid (less confident) with rolling on the power with a 450, they get going to quick in a hurry for me.

I am an amateur level rider for reference.

Ive always liked to think of a 350f as a 250t with a perfectly smooth power curve. No hit. Just electric all the way thru.

It's the best of every bike IMO (250f, 250t, 450f)

I can ride my 350 a lot longer and faster. In turn is a lot more fun, and you will want to ride more often.

Awesome guys that is what I was thinking but good to hear from owners of the bike. I bleed green and think it would be cool to have my 06 KX250 next to a 16 KX450, but I always seem to get pulled to the 350 since my racing days are way way over and ride for fun now!

seems like the "just right" of MX bikes right now! Tongue

I have a '16 350. Couple points for me were this:

Although the 350 is close in actual weight to the 450, it rides and feels lighter - it doesn't tire you out as fast. It's like you're not fighting the rotating mass or having to muscle it around as much.

Another this is, with less power and torque, it's safer for me. On a 450, if I get a little out of shape and I twist the throttle unintentionally, I can get into trouble real fast and the results can be bad. On a 350, there is more margin for error. A little blip of the throttle will not send you flying.

And, even though there's not as much torque, it's still not bad, and if you need to go faster, just let it rev out.

I bought CV forks for my bike, so suspension is not an issue for me. I love the lighter weight and the e-start - I'll never buy another new bike again without electric start.

My riding buddy has a 16 350. I liked it so much over my 12 450sxf that I sold it promptly! I am 220, and ride aggressively, I got the 450. So glad I did. I can switch bikes with him at anytime, and it is never me that wants to. He always wants to ride mine lol. The 350 is easy to get comfortable on though. Just takes some talent to run up front with it.

I have a 16 350, and race vet A. I have no idea why people think the 350 is a good bike for the average slow vet kind of dude. It's a bike that has to be ridden so hard and aggressive to go fast on and takes way more fitness and skill than most older riders have. If you are really good you will want more power, if you are just going to be cruising in the c class it's a really fun bike and probably plenty fast for you. I also had a 11 350, but rode a 15 450 last year. I only bought the 16 350 because nobody had a 450 available. Anybody want to trade their 450 for my 350?

Totally agree with ob here... Buddy bought a 16 350 and I spun a bunch of laps on it last November ( My son wanted to go orange so we put our cash down on KTM's with 2 new bikes in 14/15 and the nit picky little problems drove us nuts and went blue right after)... I'm a 47 year old vet rider and we race almost every weekend during season and have been riding/racing indoors the last few months but was shocked how little bottom the 350 had, the mid was okay, obviously came on hard on top but it is definitely not a lazy vet bike for sure and rarely see vet riders with the ability to ride on the pipe unless they are x pro's or something (rode with Todd Dehoop at Red Bud last October 25th). The brakes, clutch and shifting were great but I just remember thinking in my helmet on the track "Really?... Its just another dirt bike" The thing that got me was for the amount of money he paid for that bike, to have to invest another 1K for suspension, you can buy any other color and build/tune the bike for your liking and still have money to pay almost a year of gate/class fees.

If a vet rider is getting back into the sport, not sure this is the way I would go! When I think of perfect vet bike, I think CRF 450 - Nice electric motor, light bike, feels great in the air, starts easy and you can buy left overs for around 6K, If you a X pro, buy a KXF - YZF 450 and you can just about take it to Loretta's with just tires and gas imop.

Ride safe 2016!

Exactly what I said in my first post after owning a 13 350.

The last couple big vet races I went to i raced 30+ B and got 2nd at them on my 16 yz450. I'm way more happy with the 450. The suspension and roll on power do it for me. I'm not a revver.

I bought the first anniversary 450 that was in a 500 mile radius of me. I paid $8400 out the door for it plus you get $500 back on a blucru visa. So basically $7900 for it. And I don't have to spend $1000 on the forks to make it rideable.

I personally will
Finish in the same spot weather I am on a 125. 250 250f 350 or 450 . I think a 250f is more than enough for most vet riders . I don't really like 450s myself. It's never really been the bike holding me back . Except for a few tracks I did get pulled hard on uphiills by 450s and I could not twist the grip any further on my 250f . When I was getting a new bike the 350 was at the top of my list and the support from KTM has been very very good . I would not hesitate to be back on a Yamaha They have really stepped up there support and there bikes are awsome . At the end of the day everyone changes there bike to fit and work the best for them . Good luck on your journey to get to LL

If Yamaha made an electric start YZ, I would consider getting a 250 and doing a big bore and a little motor work. Of course being the old guy I am, I would have to do a yellow and black retro look!

Another reason I went back to Yamaha is for the contingency. They pay out for 10 races around me. KTM pays nothing.

I also am 1 up in the rear...as are most of the guys who have them around me.

My old man runs a 52 for a bit more snap.

I don't know how you guys justify the yz450 as being the cats ass. I've ridden a bunch, and while the engines are good (but what 450 isn't), it honestly felt like I was riding a boat anchor. The shrouds are gigantic and it feels very wide in general. Hell my 350 is 5 years old and is by no means light...but it is 100 times more flickable than the big blue terd. Not to mention it stops like a bus....and you have to kick it to start.

This isn't the Middle Ages Japan....electric start is king

I'm 6'3 and the wideness doesn't bother me at all. Even the first time I rode the 11,12,13 models it didn't feel weird.

My 350 was a 13 so it supposedly weighed 231 without fuel my yz is a 16 and supposed to weigh 238. The yz feels just as light and flickable as the 350. I don't know about you but I can't feel the difference of 7 lbs while riding it and most people can't either.

The 16 yz front brake is new and stops just as good as the KTM to. And it starts on the 1st kick.

Yamaha already has e start on their fx models. And when I bought my yz I got a email questionnaire from Yamaha asking me what I preferred spring forks or air forks. I clicked spring on every one. They also asked e start or kick. I selected e start everytime as well.

I'm a 450 guy but 2 of my friends have 350's (crusher773 being one of them). My 07 450SXF spent most of last year in pieces so I spent quite a bit of time on a 350. Previously I would not have thought about going to a 350 as it felt too much like a 250 to me, but I really came to enjoy it. I spent a lot of time on a '13 YZ450 as well, which only made the 350 shine even more. I hope the YZ450 improved leaps and bounds since '13 as that chassis is no good. I was contemplating a '16 350 but my wife surprised me with a '16 450SXF for Christmas. I don't think anyone can go wrong with a 350. Plus with KTM you get electric start. I've been on electric start since '07 and would never go back.

You must be on a magical yz450 because they feel no where near as light as a 350. But we will have to agree to disagree.

Yes the 350 is a great bike for you.
Either Kreft or ProTune can get the suspension just like you want it.

You must be on a magical yz450 because they feel no where near as light as a 350. But we will have to agree to disagree.
I had a 13 350 with a shoria battery. Which supposedly loses 3 lbs. And it was already 6 lbs lighter than your 11 and made 10 more hp.

Not magical seems like you think your KTM is magical. According to MXA your bike weighs 237 lbs and the 16 Yz450 weighs 238.

Yea its so much lighter lol. Everyone that's rode mine getting off other 450's asks what it weighs because they think it's lighter.
