Its for a 7 year old kid who has a once in a lifetime opportunity to race infront of 60,000+ people, something the vast majority of you guys have never done, nor ever will.
If this guy came around to everyones pit on a sunday afternoon at the track with a donation bucket, none of you desk jockeys would puff up your chest and say the things you are saying.
I get it, freedom of speech on the internet, but don’t kick a guy who is trying to help out his own blood. I doubt any of you would do any different given his situation.
I would do whatever it took to ensure my nephew got a shot like this if he had the opportunity.

I wouldn't ask for anyone to pay the bill. She learns there are limits to what we can and can't afford. And she also learns that things come with hard work and sacrifice. She doesn't learn to just say "I want" and then open her hand so others can fulfill her dreams. That's between her as a person, and us as parents.
I don't know as though the issue is necessarily this case as much as a "crowdsourcing" culture. Every time anything happens that's bad, or someone wants something they can't afford on their own it's time to turn to the Internet and the generosity of others instead of making a plan and executing it to get what you want.
Some of the negative reactions to this specific cause is that they entered a lottery for a race knowing the expense, and doesn't seem they made sure they had it covered. "The holidays" happening is something, but that's not a secret as to when those are or when Supercross is.
As a person, I appreciate hard work and a solid work ethic. Maybe it was a great plan and some things happened. I'd be a lot more open to donation if there were a backstory of hardship, sacrifices made, etc. That doesn't appear to be the case.
Oh yeah, and if the funds are raised should the campaign be closed out? Last I looked, it was still active. You're welcome to donate to the cause if you feel it's so worthwhile.

It's certainly not anyone else's problem, but when KTM does call and says that you were selected, you don't just give up. We've gone this far and never had an issue. It was strictly bad timing on our end.
