DV just stated the obvious. Same thing I did in the first thread that popped up about it. Would you turn left from the right lane when the light turned green? Without even checking up?

I thought James looked damn good, all I can remember from DV's career is how much he use to look back while racing, and I think David Bailey was quite annoyed with it...

only on vital, can someone be IN FRONT of someone else, and get RUN INTO by that same person, and be at fault.

Bubba pretty much always looks good out there. I'm just bummed that shit went sideways for him again. Was looking forward to him being in the c/ship hunt. 450 class always seem to end up being a snoozer. Lots of talent there this year and it will be interesting to watch the point spread as the season progresses. Got a feeling Dungey could win the whole thing without ever winning a race.

Shit happens but I think it was a brain fart by RD. What did he think JS was going to do, play follow the leader with Anderson? It wasn't the first turn in their battle in front of RD that they were dicing lines. I just found it weird that on the restart, RD took the very same line JS did on the very first lap. JS didn't really invent his line and if you watch the other races before and after the incident that many took the same line JS did. Look at the tire marks on the track and where RD was when the incident occurred. RD was making fresh tire marks to the inside of the race line everyone was using.

What about the second part of his analysis? If the person doing the block pass falls also, they definitely didn't do something right.

In order to "block" someone you have to be able to get in front of them to block their forward momentum. Vince never had his front wheel in front of Weston. At best they were even at the point of contact.

OK, I think I've figured out a way to make everyone happy.
Fault by percentages:
12% Dungey for going inside, clipping final jump and bumping into Stewart
11% Stewart for cutting down in a 180 bowl turn so early in the race
27% Dirt works crew for building a track with a jump at a 180 bowl turn entry point and not saying "Hey, this could be bad"
37.5% Winkler for designing the track as built (Maybe not Rich, but hey, someone has to take this blame)
17% All entered riders for not chiming in and saying "Hey, remove this jump, someone is going to get taken out"
14% DV, because he admitted before the race what would happen and didn't point it out.
29% all fans who saw the race and didn't tweet, text, email, call, or instagram the dangerous location on the track.
80% Feld for putting on the show
45% Split AMA/FIM for sanctioning the whole race/series
71.5% God, (or Karma if you're an atheist) just because

There, 344% of blame. I think there's plenty to go around. I take 100% of the blame for anyone I may have offended by not appointing blame to whoever they think should get some.
Cool

...and 8% Schrodinger's Cat for not believing in God or being Atheist but understanding that they have simultaneously both collided and made it through the turn successfully, until the event is observed.

Friese's pass was a late, mistimed block pass. If you watch it again, he actually gets the bike turned and pointing out of the corner, and then Peick comes down on him, he doesn't go up into Peick. It was just badly timed and poorly executed, he gave Peick nowhere to go. Stewart made a risky move and Dungey had nowhere to go, that was s complete racing incident, they both should probably have been more aware of their surroundings. It wasn't Stewart's fault, but he not blameless, it was risky cutting down so far like that in a lot of traffic

Since when should anyone go down during a "block pass"? Since when is it considered a "block pass" when you show up to the scene of the crime perpendicular to the direction of the track with no hope of blocking a rider who is already back on the gas exiting the corner? Where I come from that is a "take out". I'd love to go riding with some of you guys and execute one of these "block passes" on you and see what your viewpoint is then...lol.

Exactly. A block pass requires you being in front. Not running into their footpeg at a 60 degree angle. No one races lol

Looking at the first pass more, Weston had a wheel on Vince, people are saying he should've backed off, but when they made contact Weston was ahead. The second pass speaks for itself, but yeah, I can see why Weston went all Peick Tyson on his ass

Wait a minute... are we agreeing without realizing we're agreeing? Haha.

It wasn't a block pass in my eyes. He attempted one, but he came up about 5 feet short of actually trying to execute it. That's why he ended up on the ground.

DV is a dick. He only knows how to tell the truth. That sort of honesty always hurts feelings and hurting feelings is the definition of a dick. I'm a dick but I'm not French. Ergo France does not hold sole rights to dickishness. Keep it real DV.

What is your definition of cutting down? I could potentially agree if James had pivoted and was coming back toward the tuff block on the inside but he was no where near that. My eyeballs saw him try to go inside Anderson but he was still past halfway out in the corner and exiting. By your reasoning he should have to stay on the very outside and I don't agree with that. I do blame the driver if he crossed the centerline and is pointed in the wrong direction. Not to say Dungey didn't have a hand? It was completely his fault even though I doubt he intended that outcome.
That's just my point bud.

Two different views and two different actions.

The only fair thing to say is they're both at fault and it's a pretty normal racing incident.

James cut down. Dungey charged up the inside. If neither had done either they'd have raced for the win.

As I said, I'm a dick so in my opinion DV is not in my top 20 riders. He was a wiley and tenacious competitor but never a "holy shit" guy. Rock solid ain't a bad rep or bad way to be remembered.

I didn't like DV as a rider and I can't stand his voice when he is on Pulpmx. He is spot on when he said Stewart rides like he is the only rider on the track in the races. That's what happens when you ride alone at home all the time.
