If you really want a top end monster cut the head to bring it back to pre '11 us spec and port the cylinder. Also blueprinting the motor will make a big difference and will polishing the transmission.

a Lectron carb is a must have mod for any two-stroke. You'll find that people who don't have good things to say about them have either never owned one, or havent owned one in the last 20 years.

The bike is a '11 that has gone through many different looks and mods. Current mods are

- Cut Head
- Port and polished cylinder and carb
- Blueprinted motor with balanced crank
- Polished Transmission
- DEP pipe and modified DEP silencer
- Dirt Star rims laced up to Tusk hubs with excel spokes
- '16 plastic conversion

My YZ runs wayyy too perfect right now to start messing with the carb though but the guys over at Lectron def know their stuff! Do you have the 38mm on yours?

This would make the hit a little less abrupt, but not much. You may want to try that, or do as someone else mentioned and get a flywheel weight.

The suspension is awesome, even stock. I'd work on getting the adjusters dialed in first if I were you. I think the spring rates should be spot-on for your weight. Adjust the sag to 100mm and then see if you get any free sag - there should be about 1 to 1.5 inches with the bike off the stand (no rider) once you set the race sag.

Everything else on that bike is pretty solid. I did an oversize Braking rotor on mine, and I've done braided brake lines before for more stopping power; just be sure you know how to use that brake before making this mod.

Put a fresh piston in it and reinstall the cylinder with two base gaskets. Check the squish clearance and send the head to http://rb-designs.com/ Follow his instructions for squish check and have him cut the head to .040" clearance and 23cc.

PC pipe and R304 shorty.

It will be smooth and pull out on top really strong. If you need it smoother drop a tooth on the rear.

Mine is an 07 w/ the ufo kit on it. Nothing special Vforce 3 reed system, Full fmf system, and suspension. Honestly the bike came with the reeds and exhaust all I have done is the cosmetics and the suspension. I rode a modded 450 forever and this bike is still the most fun bike I have ever had. Eventually I thought about sending the head to Mitch Payton and having him do a pump gas version of mods but it doesn't really need them ha. Your bike is lookin good. Best advice I could give is have the suspension done and the comfort level alone will make you faster. Its in my bike checks I cant get my pic to upload.

By far the best improvement to make is the RB Designs head mod. The squish is too large on OEM heads. The ones that I have checked have all been around .080" and for best combustion should be closer to .040". You won't be disappointed!

On a serious note, the best thing that you can get for the bike is a rekluse clutch. spendy, but easily the best thing you can bolt on to the bike. I'm talking moto too, not trails.

My top 3 mods are :
1- Apex head with MX & SX inserts

2 - Ride Engineering 23.5mm triple clamps with poly cones & one piece bar mount


3 - any aftermarket exhaust system based on how you ride your bike. I chose FMF. I’ve rode with stock pipe and a full Pro Circuit system also.
Stock - great low/mid range power. Falls flat on top and loves to be short shifted. Great for trails or tight tracks. Has a good abrupt bottom hit.
FMF - good even spread of power. Doesn’t do one thing exceptionally better than the other two but it has a little bit of everything where you want it. Less bottom than stock but a smoother midrange hit and pulls well into the top end. Great on flowy/ open tracks.
Pro Circuit - top end monster. If you ride wide open or dunes, this is your pipe. Even less bottom then the FMF and compared to stock it feels like it has no bottom but once you get to that midrange hit…it hits and keeps on pulling past the Fatty. This pipe loves to rev.

These are what I would consider to be my top 3 mods outside of your personal mods like bars, grips, tires & suspension. Hope this helps!
