Being in a video game is awesome! You can't say it's not a kids dream to be in a video game haha. So it's definitely cool. To be honest I haven't played in quite a long time but when I do, yes, I race as myself. I always get stories from fans at the races saying I took them out or they beat me or I beat them haha. So it's cool. As for being in it they approached me. To be honest I didn't really get anything out of it besides getting to be in the game. That part wasn't that cool so I was reluctant to do it but then I kind of caved in and decided that the little kid version of myself would be very disappointed if I didn't do it.

Thank you! March 4th so not too long. We're excited!

I kind of said in a previous post but I got an opportunity with a "newer" team that I couldn't pass up. I'm excited for it and thankful. Yes I've only ever ridden Kawi or Yamaha my whole career so it is a little change. But I'm feeling good on the bike already and happy with it. It's something fresh and new so I'm enjoying it. Press releases should be coming soon

Yes you're correct. My first year there was in 2005. I believe my bike blew up the first moto and I won the second moto. That moto kind of cost me the championship that year but I ende up second. The next year there I won and I believe I won the second moto by over a minute. I love that track. So definitely gopher dunes is probably my favorite track up there. In 2014 when I just raced up there I also like the ulverton track! I won that race also after racing by unadilla out of a rental car the day before haha. It was more of a U.S. style national track and got rougher than some others so I liked it.

Hi Kyle

Couple of questions.

Out of all the bikes you've ridden whether as a pro or as an amateur, if you had the opportunity to restore just one in years to come to be a garage queen, to race for fun or whatever, what would it be and for what reasons.

Do you follow the GPs? if so, who's your money on for 16?
Hey. Man if I could keep or restore them all I would haha. I have my last 80cc bike that I won the U.S. Open on. I also have my last supermini bike that I won on at Loretta's. I would like to have my 125 from 2003 that I won Loretta's on. Also probably my Motoconcepts bike from 2010. It was my most successful year and I did it as a fill in rider all year ending up 10th in sx and 6th in mx.

Kyle. It was a pleasure to meet you at the daytona supercross the last couple of years. You are the first one myself and my son seek out. David Vuillemin is great and I know a lot of us like it when he co-hosts the Pulpmx show. His brutal honesty makes for good internet radio but not only that hes a smart guy and his opinion is respected by all.

What specifically did he do for you in that 2011 season that worked so well? Any good DV stories from that year? Did he get in any slap fights with Genova the way he did with Roncada at the Atlanta sx one year? Laughing

first off thanks for doing this!

As you have experience running your own team, and dealing with the highs, and lows that go along with it.

what do you feel sets you apart from other riders on the grid? I guess another way to phrase it is what do you feel makes you more marketable, and a better value than others on the line next to you?

What is the one thing that you know now, that you wish you knew when you decided to do your own deal this past season?

Yep I have a lot of respect for DV. He's deinfinitely a smart guy. He showed me a few different ways to train and I think some of the stuff he showed me off the bike was an area I was lacking in and didn't even know it. And on the bike it was just his general knowledge and showing me different drills and ways to do my motos during the week and also his advice on the track, lines, and race craft at the races! He gave me more confidence as a whole and it was a pleasure working with him. I can't think of too many crazy stories from that year with him. But whether it was Genova or a rider or anyone he was never shy on his opinion haha. Maybe wasn't right ALL the time and some things might not work for some people but a lot of the time he knows his stuff.

Part of me wishes we could race all year because when the season is over, after about a week or two, I want to be at the races again and I miss it. I'd like to think something that sets me apart or makes me more marketable is that I always try to make time and make myself available to my fans as much as I can. I know other guys do as well but I like interacting with people and fans at the races or at practice. We wouldn't be racing for a living if it weren't for the fans so I'd like to think that aspect can build a good fan base which in turn helps with marketing.

One thing I wish I knew was probably how good and helpful a lot of sponsors and companies would be when I decided to go with my own team. It came together so late unfortunately but everyone was beyond helpful and supportive even when budgets and stuff were maybe done or they didn't really have to help me. I knew I could get some help but I didn't realize how good it would be to work with some of the sponsors on stuff I never would have even gotten the chance to when you just ride for a team. inwish I knew how easy it would be to throw it together and go race and be competitive. But on the flip side it is a lot of work. But that part didn't surprise me. I knew it's a lot of work!

Well first off I can't thank my family enough for helping me have this career. I wouldn't be here today without them. I was fortunate in part because my dad owns his own business and does well for himself. Not crazy rich or anything by any means but if there was something I needed or somethin that could make me better my parents did whatever they could to make sure I had it. So financially we were maybe a little more blessed than some others in that aspect. But I'd really say just the time and effort that they put in for many years. Traveling to races and going practicing and everything it takes to try to be one of the best. My parents and siblings had to give up their own time in order to allow me to pursue my dreams. But with that said I've never heard my parents, brother or sister complain that they maybe had to give some things up for that. I'm blessed with a great family. And now these days at this point in my career my family is still pretty involved and now my wife is a huge part of my career as well. We've been together since we were 13 and 15 (yes I know we were young haha) so we grew up together and she's been by my side all the way as well giving up a lot of her own life to allow me to pursue my racing. So I'm thankful for the time they've all given up for me.

Hey there. Yes it's many quite a few years now haha. My first pro race was the end of 2004 so about 11 years professionally. I'd say a goal I haven't yet accomplished would be getting a podium. Trust me I know that's very hard with how many good riders there are right now and every year. But I'll keep working as hard as I can and try my best and see if it happens sometime. I've had many 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. but just never that top three overall. I've won races all around the world against really good riders but just that podium here at home eludes me still so we will see.

Man I've been fortunate and still am fortunate enough to ride and practice with some of the best riders in the world in theirs prime. James Stewart at home is hard to beat as far as just that talent and raw speed. And also practicing with Chad Reed is incredible to watch that guy do what he does. Also for whatever reason the 2006 high point national sticks out in my mind when RC and James were battling before James crashed. Those guys were pushing each other and going so fast. Cool stuff

Sorry I missed the last part of your question. Man it's hard to bet against Cairoli. He's a good dude and all around champion so I think he's still the guy to beat once he's back healthy. But there are a lot of good guys that race over there so it will be tough but I'd have to go with him

Part of me wishes we could race all year because when the season is over, after about a week or two, I want to be at the races again and I miss it. But part of me feels very worn out towards the end because it's a long tough schedule. In reality though I think we should have at least a few more off weeks during SX and/or maybe a few less races. Thank you! I and a lot of other old school guys around here would love to see a couple of hardpack tracks on the circuit. Watching a guy with awesome throttle control like Kevin Windham is a pleasure.

I'll be blunt, I blame RC for all the tracks being the same surface. When he bitched about the Budds Creek national track in 2007 at the after race press conference because they left it smooth and didnt deep till it, it was like the death knell of hard pack tracks on the national circuit. He made a fuss and said they better not prep it that way for the MXdN later in the year. Funny, but at the same press conference, that days winner in the 250 class,RV,said he thought the track was great. It suited his full throttle drifting around the corners style.

Sorry to derail the thread but you opened a wound. Unsure

As a rider who earned a career number the hard way. What is your take on the numbering system? Do you thing they should let more riders choose their number?

Haha no worries. Yeah I never really knew about that at all. But yeah in general I think it would be good to have a little more variety in the tracks. More sand. More hard pack. And keep some of that good dirt that we have now

As a Cairolli fan, i'd like to think he can get at least one more title, think we're going to have a great season on both sides of the Atlantic this year.

For me it was awesome to earn a career number! I actually like the number system except for what they just changed recently allowing the 250sx points to count towards your number. And that's not really terrible but other than that I like it. I feel like it's good because if you win a championship you get to pick a single digit. If you are in the top 100 in points you get recognized as a top100 rider. And if you are in the top 10 out of everyone all year you get the privilege of picking you're own number that you can brand yourself around and be known as.

It would be cool if everyone was just allowed to pick their number and brand themselves around that but I think if you let people do that then you're going to run into the problem of multiple people wanting the same number and then how do you control that? So I think it's good that you have to earn the right to pick you're number and others earn the recognition of being a top 100 rider.

Hey Kyle, thanks for hanging out with us! Just a couple questions:

- There was a thread here a week or two ago about the most memorable bike (or bikes) you've ever ridden... What would you pick?

- If you had to pick just one aftermarket part/modification to make to a brand new stock bike and then go race, what would it be? Something you can't ride without...

- Wheelies or stoppies?
- Whips or flips?

Hey Chiz!

Can you talk about what it was like working with DV that season–you had showed a pretty incredible improvement and looked like you could beat the top guys... What was that feeling like, that rapid improvement, how was DV as a coach and how hard was it to get back up after such a bastard injury?

Congrats on the Bubs too man, you guys are going to love it, baby Girls are the best!

Not gonna lie I was unhappy with how things went down in Salt Lake with Chad. But you have made all the right moves since then and have become such a great role model in the sport. We need more racers like you out there.
