Justin Hill tld/bell helmet

Edited Date/Time 11/22/2015 10:18am
I havnt been on in a bit but I notice Justin wearing a bell helmet. I know he wore shoei with factory KTM but doesn't it seem weird that he would have a new helmet deal going to tld.

Did he change Shoei to Bell? I haven't even noticed that, probably because the season was horrible for him and the time on the camera was very limited.

After his concussion during the outdoors he made the switch to Bell as soon as he was back on the bike. Guess Shoei wasn't cutting it considering I believe he had 2 major concussions with it.

For a while after he started riding the TLD bike he was still running Spy goggles as well. He just recently switched to the team sponsor Oakley. So I guess he's either not switching to a TLD helmet until the last second, or he's getting to keep his Bell deal.

How can riders change helmets like that? Not only helmets, there was the Tickle/Xbrand thing also?

Are there no organisations that monitor these contracts? So basically they are just thin air.

I have heard that TLD is going to a new helmet so maybe he is waiting for the new version? It sort of depends on the manufacture and the racer to what kind of contract or agreement they have for either just product or money. Then you don't know what was said by ether Hill or Shoei to the other and if agreed to part ways, with no harm no foul?

He ran Spy until his personal deal with them was up, he's now running Oakley. I expect we'll see him in a TLD helmet come A1.

That makes sense. I can't see Troy lee being cool with him running a competing brand.

IMO the best way to avoid concussions in ANY helmet is to not slap your head on the ground. . .

Well, Justin is running his Bell because Troy is a cool cat and definitely wants his riders to feel safe. This is part of the reason why Troy is going all-in on the next helmet to be one of the top players in the market. Interestingly enough, Troy requires his rider's to run chest protection. They all wear a hard shell-style under protector.

Didn't try them on but have seen them in the 2017 catalog, they are sweet looking.

Also Seely has been wearing one already in pictures.

This is interesting.
I know alot will disagree, but anything like that between you and the ground saves alot of injuries. Even if just a good case of road rash.

I'm really surprised the insurance co's, or at least the AMAs supplemental insurance doesn't mandate a minimum amount of protective gear other than what's required now.
If everyones wearing it...it's equal again. Like stick and ball sports.
