Not me but I played a part in this holeshot by helping build my buddy's ,Daisuke Shimasaki on the 22 bike, bike for the 2014 All Japan MX series. Sugo round he pulled this during the qualifying race from pretty far outside in front of all the works bikes and Webb during his first trip over there. Put a huge smile on my face!

Hey G-Man, How was that 1978 Can Am 250 Carlsbad? Never rode one but was intrigued. Heard they were fast, yet handled horribly.

I actually liked the handling as the smooth broad power of the rotary valve helped a lot on dry slick tracks.

The stock gas Girlings were junk though and I put on Fox air shocks and AIR caps on the front mariachi forks and put 5 psi to firm them up.

Worked great I was doing Bubba scrubs before Bubba was born hahahaha Grinning

That's a cool pic. I'm sure the suspension mods helped.

Right at the base of the Vincent Thomas Bridge! Raced it back in the '70s/80s as well, covered my first race for Cycle News there when I was in high school! It was an Old Timers MX race--interviewed a guy celebrating his 73rd birthday racing, his wife helping him in the pits and at the start, total badass!!!!
