2006 RM125 Build

Edited Date/Time 11/11/2015 4:08am
Well I have been wanting to do this for quite some time. I picked up a 2006 RM125. Seemed like it was in decent shape. Then we began tearing it down. Total restore coming up.
Things I need some help with:
Frame color?? Black or Yellow?
I am going with a Team ECC themed graphic and they have yellow frames.
Aftermarket Gear shifter or Brake lever?
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
The best thing on the bike was a Factory FMF pipe and a Shorty silencer. I really want a PC setup. Just what i would rather have! What does anyone think I can get for the FMF stuff on ebay?

Really looking forward to this one!!

Email pro circuit. Demand that they make the titanium carbon fiber trick silencer for rm two strokes. They make for cr and yz and kx and sx but not rm. Ripoff lol.

I prefer black frame. Works suzuki bikes had black frames. As well as yellow factory rims. That's just me. I'd run oem gear shifter and brake pedal. Lot of aftermarket stuff is garbage.

I don't know what the ECC team kit looked like so I can't say what frame colour would be best but I can give you advice on the brake and gear lever side of things.

Have a look at what I did with my rear brake pedal Here , its easy and cheaper than a $220 rear brake lever and way stronger as its forged aluminium and to be honest I'm a bit disappointed in Hammerhead, the aluminium that they use is pretty soft and I've gone thru 4 shifter tips in around 2 years on my YZ450F, the anodising doesn't seem to be that awesome either, my brake pedal from them has held up nice but I think that because the stainless grub screws in the top side that take all the wear.

Are you replacing the Clutch and ignition covers?

I was not planning on replacing them. Going to try to find a way to clean them up or use a chemical to discolor them. Open to ideas for sure.

Escondido Cycle Center's team. 03 graphics were great. They turned some heads, I bought the complete kit from n-style in 2003 for mine.

A couple years ago, I contacted n-style to have them do a set once more. They were less than enthusiastic, and no longer had the capability to do the flo-green colors.
If anyone can make a spot-on replica, I'm in on the group buy.

Can anyone give me some input on how to mount up the new rmz front fender and number plate? I have a set of applied clamps coming. Not sure how to get new fender to bolt up.

I had mine mocked up about a year ago so don't quote me on this, but I think that the rear bolts line up you just have to redrill the front mount bolts to suit. the number plate conects with the fender with tabs so get the fender up and on first then line up the plate with the fender, that way you can see what you need to do to make the plate mount up nice. I used a cable tie mine for the mock up and I've seen other people just use them to mount it but I will make a little bracket to mount it properly when the time comes.

A little more progress here. I am also listing the FMF factory fatty and shorty silencer on ebay today for $200. If anyone on here wants it I will sell and ship it for $200.

Like he said, The front plate is a non issue since it goes into the same top mounting bolt that the original one takes and just clips to the fender.

The fender, the rear holes line up, its just the front - I dabbed some grease on the front mounts of my clamps and placed the fender in spot - and removed, left 2 grease dots and thats where I drilled my holes and it worked perfect - hope that makes sense.

The addition of these 2 pieces makes such a drastic difference on the appearance of the bike. Mine Smile

I'm leaning towards the factory look myself. This is an 03 RM125 the was David Millsaps team bike. Still had the PC suspension stickers with his name on it. The frame was black and has the factory water pump/ case guard as well. I like the clean look myself. A fun bike.

This is my 05 rm125 with ecc rep. I designed and printed the graphics myself. Couldn't print the flo green so had to go with a kx green and a kxf seat cover. I built the bike in a rush so planning on tearing it down to tidy a few parts up.

Well I don't know that I can get replica stuff but I can get OEM parts as well as many aftermarket parts. I currently have one aftermarket distributor, I have accounts with Dubya Wheel USA and Performance Tire as well as a few lesser knowns. Message me what you want at sales@secondchancecycleworks.com and I'll get you info back. I'm still working on my website in my part time. You can check it out but beware the e-store is still in process and no where near ready. I'm a mechanical engineer during the daytime and work on bikes and ride in my spare time. Adding in a website and e-store, both of which I'm terrible at, has me strained to say the least but I figure if having these accounts at least allows me to get parts for my hobby at a discount I might as well share my good fortune.
