Being from North Carolina and growing up racing in NC this is huge. Not only for North Carolina but for the sport of motocross. Being able to put NASCAR and motocross in the same venue is truly unbelievable for this sport. Yes I know there is Daytona SX but to bring all the best riders from Europe and the best in the USA to race a motocross race inside of Charolotte Motor Speedway is truly unbelievable. The best racers in the world racing in the southeast in a NASCAR venue, thank you @mxgp for making a huge step. Hope to see everyone there September 2nd!

I like his positive attitude towards this event. Sure was cool to see him compete at the Glen Helen GP and MxON. Should be exciting to see him compete in the GP there in '16!!

He'll be heading to the Paris Lille sx in a month also, looking forward to see Webb irl for the 1st time Cool

Very interesting, i can't be the only one who feels like the GPs are getting bigger in US? Not only the fact that there will be 2 USGPs. RV racing GPs(He did it because he didn't want to race SX and MX), many US riders doing the Glen Helen GP(although mainly because KTM/Husqvarna), Barcia talking good things about the GPs and the format after MXdN and now this from Webb.

I know that we are far from getting ONE series with all the best riders from the world but GPs getting bigger in the US market is a good thing for us all. Who didn't love RV racing those 4 GPs? The awesome USGP in Glen Helen this year? And lets not forget that Covington won a GP this year!

I feel like there is a bigger chance than in a long time that US riders could head to the GPs, i know it's still unlikely but the odds are smaller 2015 than 2006.

Good perspective and thanks for sharing it. I won't touch the ONE series subject with a ten foot pole. I will say before year's end the odds I believe will be much better for US riders who are interested in MXGP for 2017 to get there. Bamboo under my fingernails can't get me to spill any more 411 so let's see what December brings.

Yeah well i know the one series subject can get messy...

But the next few years will be very interesting to follow! I guess Gajser and Ferrandis will be the next EU guys in supercross and nationals, but will anyone from US participate in the GPs? I remember that Niccoletti had an offer or something in planning on a GP ride? I think he said that in a Pulp show?

I will bite. I actually like things the way are now with the Nationals and MXGP plus knowing what I know of MX Sports and YS there is no motivation for either of them try to do a one series deal. The mistake I believe most people make is comparing the two series is treating them like they're the same and drawing comparisons on why one is better than the other. They're two completely different animals each requiring a different mind set IMHO. A 12 race National series on one continent with no more than a three hour time difference with one language and same food is just not the same challenges to the competitors as the MXGP global schedule. You have to be INTO IT to sign up for a Lackey, LaPorte, Liles, Moore, Parker, Schmidt, Zach Osborne, Michael Leib, Thomas Covington, RV program. EDIT I was remiss in not mentioning the rider I tried to emulate in look and style Gary Semics. I ran #44 on my 250 Husky and studied photos to get my gear to match his as closely as possible. Loved Gary's series on racing the GPs. If you haven't read his multi installment recap you've got some really good reading waiting for you.

As an old fart moto head I feel like there is a bigger chance than in a long time (wishful thinking?) US riders will be heading to the GPs thanks in part to RV. The Euros MX skills increasing to where they are no longer laughed at is sweet justice for the people who started this sport.

My dream is to see more American riders going to MXGP. We're overdue for an American to bring home a World Title. BTW I sent DC a copy of the Voices letter I wrote in 2007 in CN where I wrote "In the dream where I have a son he would be become a top 3 National competitor then go after a world title" DC e mailed back and said "You're consistent!" Look at my Namur avatar for more background. I'm still the teenager hanging over the pit fence at Honda Hills in 72 drooling over the bikes and idolizing the likes of DeCoster, Mikkola and Lackey.

Before I get burned at the stake I appreciate not everyone and not every young racer shares my dream but until I put a gun to a racer's head and force him to race MXGP "stay off of my cloud" okay? :-)

The only thing I really want to see happen in the near term is FINALLY a return to SX mains and for the track markers to go away on both sides of the pond....or better said their usage reduced by 80 to 90 percent. Don't tell anyone but I can actually see why there used on some parts of the track but it drives me bananas to see them just stuck in the ground for no reason. If the line is going to be slower outside the track do you really need to put markers there? Anyway I will stop before I go on a more extended marker rant.

Imagine a "world championship" of motocross where in a 16-18 race season, there is a mix of outdoor, indoor held on the infield of a car track, and true indoor Supercross. The champion is crowned after a full season of mixed - discipline dirt bike racing has finished. It would effing rule!

Have you ever talked to him personally? Doesn't seem like it.

Or just built an opinion based on what other people on the internet say?

It'll be interesting if the track ends up supercross-y at all, and several US guys show up to race it. I'd be all for seeing that

It comes from watching the GPs last year. Just from interviews, maybe it's the difference in cultures. He comes off as a cocky prick. I doubt he'll lose any sleep over what I say.

No thank you. I don't want SX as in "true indoor SX" anywhere near MXGP.

Michael, i agree that the US series is easier to win in some aspects for an American, but for someone from Europe, it would be just as hard to adapt to the US schedule, with one day races, less time to learn tracks etc,

i still think the US supercross series is the # 1 attraction in our sport, and the top series to win, its been since the late 70's early 80's that a rider in the prime of his career has left a good ride in the states, for a ride in europe, the rest took european deals as they could not get a good ride in the states,

You gotta give both parties credit here. It takes huge balls for both the promoter and Youthstream to try this. They can't get 5,000 US fans to attend the USGP at Glen Helen but are going to attempt this? Who knows maybe it will get Feld to consider dropping the tits n ass fireworks shows in football venues and move it outdoors during the daytime at racing facilities.

Since there will be 2 USGPs next year why not have a little mini series within a series. Top 3 riders in points from just those 2 races win something. It would be cool if someone stepped up and supported that. Like how in the past you could win a Toyota truck based on points from 3 supercross races.

It looks like Luongo really took note of what that Edmondson (sp?) wanker, frome DMG, who was a big part of the near destruction of your Road Race AMA Series, had in mind as the future of MX.

He put forward his 'dream' of having the Outdoors in Super Speedways, around the time DMG got the rights to MX. If there is one essential thing you can thank DC and Co for, is that not happening . Yet.

So, what do we have comming in 2016 for The World Motocross Championships - I think it's 4 or 5 races at either Road Race venues (Assen and Thailand), Soccer / Football Stadiums (Seth Efrica And Switzerland), and now one following Emondson's ( spelling / the correct name, again) vision of US Super Speedways.

Really, this is what 'we' want?

That's a very low number, sure twice as much as other years but still about half what is needed.

Good points. Like everything it is a matter of opinion. I am biased due to my age and the effects of the Euros on me as a teenager.

What you said was true up until RV's ill fated attempt to race MXGP. I'm still hoping someone from his generation will make the choice to follow in the prime but be into it plus start seeing some more MX2 competitors.

The next few years in MX will be epic. The next few years in SX will be epic. Great time to be a fan of motorcycle racing if you ask me.

It would be cool to have an American or two ( or three ) compete over in the GP's. But honestly , we kind of have our own MXoN's here in the states during our nationals , since we have so many ex-world champions that are racing or have raced them here. I'm not going to sit here and pound my chest about our series , but the SX and USA nationals are the two most popular series in the world. A good core fan will watch all three series ( Nationals , SX and GP's )....only the ones here in the states get 10 X more viewership and it's also why more money flows in from sponsors.

I DO however think the GP's have up scaled their entire package , which is really cool for anyone ( like me ) that enjoys watching it , no matter what country they are racing in.

What is your source for your 10 times viewership numbers? I hadn't paid any attention to numbers since the one guy posted the Hangtown numbers.

show us the numbers .... dont think you are even close with the 10 times more ,.... and you know in MXGP we got all national champions from Russia,Belgium,Netherlands,France,Germany , England etc etc .... talking about own MXON series .... i like all series .... but youre comparison is a bit off in my opinion ....in 2014 it was 1,3 billion tv vieuwers for MXGP ...those are big numbers .....and i"m pretty sure the numbers of 2015 will be even higher with RV coming over etc

Over the last few years, especially last year and this year, the Motocross World Championship has made large bounds ahead and thanks to the tremendous work made by Youthstream in cooperation with the FIM, FIM-Europe, organizers, manufacturers, teams, riders, media, sponsors and to the great support received from the MXGP fans today Motocross has become one of the most popular sports in the world. Thanks to the modern tools which have been developed, MXGP is being distributed worldwide providing fans from everywhere with the possibility to really enter our world and feel to be a part of it all. 2014 saw an impressive TV coverage of 1.3 billion TV viewers for more than 4,900 hours of broadcasting.

Oh, I guess you never talked to a lot of fans here in Europe.
Only the few crazy core MX fans over here do even know whats going on in US SX und Outdoors.
Out of 10 MX riders over here maybe one or two care about the two US series.
Talking to people I meet at the track and ride with, I am really shocked how bad their knowledge about the US races is, even with our german Wunderkind racing over there.

There aren't a lot of fans like us Euros here on Vital that are crazy about all 3 big series (MXGP, AMA MX, SX).

So to say that the US based series are most popular in the WORLD is biiiiig stretch...

EDIT: And as long as it is such a pain in the ass to watch any of the US races, I guess this won't change. I even gave up on watching the nationals regularly this year, just because it is not possible to watch all races on Saturday without being a criminal programmer/hacker with three different PCs... ;-)

1.3 Billion viewers is a BS youth stream figure. You really believe approximately 1/6th of the worlds population is watching Motocross GP's? I think not. Even all views in total across the season would not make anywhere near that much
