Bike prices vs Parts prices

I see a lot of talk in here about getting cheap bike prices and that this bike costs more or less than this brand bike.

but which bikes are the cheapest AFTER you purchase it? I have always heard that KTM and Husky parts are very expensive but may last longer. whereas jap bikes cost less initially, parts are less but break down faster.

whats your experience?

Yamaha would be my pick. There bikes are rock solid, and OEM parts are the cheapest. I have a Yamaha, and a Suzuki , and the Suzuki OEM parts are almost double Yamaha's prices.

I agree. Not only is Yamaha probably the most reliable bike out there, parts are much cheaper than the others. Especially KTM and husky. No way will I ever pay $50 a piece for fork oil deals and $45 a piece for dust seals.

When I get a Husky 350 and throw a muffler and "ergonomic stuff" on it and roost 4,000 miles of Baia on it...No Mods, No Chain, No Motor stuff...

And all the cool kids go and buy brand "X" & buy $4,000 of crap for it...from lights to pipes to rewound electric crap and a decent gas tank...and the stock chain, sprockets, pegs, chain-guide, tires, WHEELS, bars ...etc., etc., etc. are a joke?

I just laugh....

When it comes to Moto, I'll say this: a Factory Edition is the BEST BUY in MX...as long as your dealer isn't a Douche. Same goes for ANY Husky.

I have never seen anywhere that says Japanese OEM parts breakdown faster. But generally for anything, euro parts are more expensive. Honda and Yamaha have always been pretty cheap for me.

I'd say Yamaha and Honda for good quality parts, made in Japan and at good prices. In the Japanese manufactures, Suzuki must be the least value.
It's a load of crap about Japanese parts being low quality and not lasting compared to euro parts. Especially if you compare them with Honda and Yamaha.

Also, when you're talking 2016...there's not much difference between ANY of the 450s, price-wise, at this time.

My son in law has a 2014 crf250, purchased it brand new, rides 1 to 5 times per month and in a year and a half has replaced 1 fork seal!

My 2013 kxf450 has been pretty flawless as well!

C'mon bro. The drive train survived one ride??? This is the BS people read and unfortunately believe. I've been racing my KXF since April this year (although I use an x-ring chain) With 55 hours of cross country on the bike the sprockets and chain guide are hanging in there just fine. Chain guide shows wear but that is normal wear and tear. I've never gave the stock footpegs a single thought. It has stock suspension, and when I let people ride it they often ask what I've done to it. 'Nothing' I say.
I've owned a couple of KTM's and they are nothing special (I still have one) and they wear out parts just as consistently as any Japanese motorcycle I've owned.

Unless you buy the KTM 450 that I had, in which they are the most expensive priced to buy and spend more on parts then all 12 of your other 450s combined. My KTM ( a 13 450 SXF) was a complete pile of dog doo.
