Hey Vital Peeps!
So my wife and I are pretty seriously considering moving to Boise Idaho and buying a new home in the foothills there (since we can work remotely for our CA based jobs) and there is a ton of riding out there but I was curious what were peoples thoughts on a few things.
- Is there any good mtb and moto riding (offroad, hills, or organized tracks) in the Meridian area of Boise?
- I'm aware of OMC tracks and what they have to offer but does anyone have like a geographic map of the areas to Moto around there?
- Any areas to just stay away from because of location?
Thanks in advance guys!

2nd of all, if you have to ask if there are "any good" trails for moto or mtb, please stay off of them. And don't try to find them.
And 3rd, the last thing our state and town want are more idiots from California. Please stop invading our beautiful city, and bringing your shitty California habits with you. Please, do myself, the Idaho moto community, and the state of Idaho a favor, and just stay in California man. We don't need people moving to Idaho to work from "home". Shhhheeeesh, give me a break.
...and stay the hell out of Warshington too, we've taken a most Hungarian stance on California migrants....unless of course you can pick apples...

Not that your comments even earn a respectful reply but I grew up in Idaho, have much of my family including my parents, in-laws and brother living in Idaho including the Nampa, Caldwell, Parma, Boise and Payette areas so I do feel like it's a second home to me and ironically they all have welcoming arms for my wife and I coming.
If you have other city suggestions where a newer mid 20's couple can move that includes outdoor recreation for mtb, moto and hiking while having moderate climate without needing to spend over $900k for a decent home we are very open to suggestions.
Again - didn't mean to make you mad, just didn't ride out there when I was a child and now it's a very important part of where I'd like to live with my family.
Anyone else like to help me out instead of beat me over the head?
i think you got trolled bro.
Thin line buddy, make that third post count if you'd like to stick around.
For MTBs there are a ton of trails to ride especially in the foothills. Many of which have trail maps at the Idaho parks and rec website.
As for MX tracks I believe there is only one place in the valley left open, and it is a members only place in the foothills, OMC Racing. I have been considering joining but I don't really know anyone in the club or anyone to ride with there so I haven't done it yet. I have heard there are a decent number of private tracks in the area, but the only one I have confirmed is the one out at WPS/Fly headquarters, you can see it from the main road.
Idaho has some of the best riding in the country and quite possibly the most true mountain single track.
I've had a blast riding the Murphy area
I race Idaho City every year.. Killer event

Beyond moto, the MTB scene is very strong, as is kayaking, skiing/snowboarding, backpacking, fishing, hunting, climbing, and a bunch of other activities. Man I'm really starting to miss it there. It's a cool city too, not too big, but has everything you could ever want. And most importantly to me, the Sawtooth Mountains, some of the most beautiful wilderness to be found anywhere in the world just a few hours out of town.
I'm about ready to get the fuck outa Portland and move to ID. So many fucking people moved here in 2015 it's mind boggling.
Kawi008.....hope you make it to Idaho. And hopefully we'll hook up for some roosting. Good luck on your venture.
Ever heard of having a job that puts you in different states in the same year?
Ever heard of not being a complete and total dick?
To answer your question, Shelby, Colorado is a great place for you to look. Yes, there are quite a few former Californians migrating this way, but it's a great place to live. I live in Castle Rock and totally love it. I can ride my bike to any number of trail systems within 5 minutes. The other bright side to CO is that Denver has a pretty healthy software industry and a major airport for trips back to HQ or to customer visits.
Been talking about getting out of Cali and moving to Idaho because I can't afford to live here much longer. Trust me, I don't want to bring any of California with me anywhere I go!
You're God damned right I'll say something! He's a fellow moto head looking for a new place to live and you come in and take a complete shit on him , telling him basically to fuck off and don't move here. So mr anon , have you walked up to other riders at the track that have moved here from out of state and said what you wrote in your first reply? I don't think you have , but that doesn't stop some loud mouth like you spouting off rude shit behind your little computer screen. Asshole.
I'll also bet that you stay mr anonymous and never attach your name to anything you've said so far. Way to go champ.
Jeffro! You going to PIR tonight for practice?
Post a reply to: ANY Boise Idaho riders out there???
