Looks ok, kinda hard to tell with all the sponsor logos, have worn their goggles since 82, but those boots............no way.

The boots seem a bit quirky, but the overall look of the gear is really nice. Very clean. No clown colors.

With all the Gear companies out there a person has gotta ask.

Why ?

Only thing I can think of, Chinese crap must be really cheap and the profit way up on gear

I agree. Must be huge profit in gear. Although I do think their timing is about right. Fox is nasty ugly and the Thor isn't too far behind either. Thor hasn't been the same the last 3 years either. Maybe Scott saw the chance to steal some business their way.

Boots? Uh..I feel sorry for those individuals.

Goggles? I'm a Smith man myself.

You must be right on the profit thing, just look at the discounts you can get on the 08 gear now that the 09 stuff is out (and in some cases barely changed, or changed for the worse). Just got the high end 08 Fly Andrew Short replica gear for 80 bucks, would have been over 200 last year at this time.

gear looks cool, boots look quite cool but also look uncomfortable and plastic and googles look pretty plain.

Most of the newer gear incorporates too much white for riding in dirt!Whistling

I have said it before: I fall down so much, I need gear that HIDES dirt stains! I have to wash my own gear, too.Angry

Yep, too much white on the gear.

Swap the awful gold for another color (pick: black, blue, red, green, yellow, orange, silver) on the boots and they'd have a winner.

the boots look like theyre made out of metal and are very stiff haha. But other than that im pretty surprised that the gear looks pretty decent.

Agreed.

They couldn't get rid of the boots they already made, might as well make some use of them.

I would like to hear how the boots actually feel. They could be the best boots out there for all we know.

Nicely done! Put a Thor White/Black sentinel on the riders and it'd be even closer. Don't forget to add in a Leatt and then you'd have a match to the Stormtrooper.

you guys are out of your mind.. sorry, but the profit margins are super shitty, and then add on top of that every person that wants new gear wants a discount.. we are lucky to make 15-20 % now a days.
when the leftover gear is still around, thor, fox etc. becomes a "walmart" and just tries to dump it off before it sits around for ages, hence the low prices you see in motosport or elsewhere. : )

Never ceases to amaze me how guys go to dealerships and expect free or nearly free stuff because they are going to run the dealerships Graphics. How many people get deals on cars because they run the dealerships license plate frame? How many surfers get free trunks or 50% off "sponsorship" deals because they wear them and put a sticker on their board? Its just so retarded.

If you've come from virtually any other form of competition you know exactly what I'm talking about.

IMO the new Scott gear looks like they used the pattern from the Fox Airline gear and the boots are too bulky in the toe box. They must have used the same test riders as the first scott boots because they have no feel for the rider/bike interface.

It is obvious, that Scott copied the Storm Trooper theme with this gear. Look at where the black is compared to where the black is on the storm trooper suit. Identical.

Well they are wearing "trooper" helmets....

Seem to be a Star Wars theme they were going for.

Not out of our minds. The MANUFACTURERS have nice profit in the lines. I'm assuming you are a PU or TR dealer. Of course your margins are crappy, you're the middle man.

*new best friend*
I bitch way too much about this, but most people dont understand that we have families and ride too, and most of our paychecks depend on whether we sell the stuff for a profit or not..

But the gear is sick btw, I really dig it. Unfortunately with ONE entering the market, now Scott in the U.S. market (I believe they are already selling overseas), our market is FLOODED with gear companies at the worst possible time..

I like it - at least what I see here.

I am constantly blown away at the turn gear has made this year. It's all the same with slight changes, manufacturer-wide. Unreal. And for the most part, not too attractive. Designing anything "new and different" is very difficult - I know. But jumping on the band-wagon and mimicking everyone else, isn't the right route either.

Not to turn this into an argument about this, but Im just making a point.. In this sense, EVERYONE is the middle man. Thor is solely owned and distributed by P-U, as is MSR and ANSWER with Tucker. ONE only sold their gear to dealers who purchased over $5k of it, and No Fear and Fox require you to purchase ridiculous amounts to make decent money. There is only so little companies and products that allow business's to make a margin better than 30%.

And yes, we are still technically a middle man.
