Closest major airport to MXGP GH

Edited Date/Time 9/14/2015 9:58pm
Whats the best place to fly into that carries southwest. Got points for southwest to use. There's so many airports listed near San berdino..

Since I'm busted up with a broken collarbone I figured why not fly out there Friday and watch the best in the world.

Any help greatly appreciated ?

Do you mean MXGP? If so, I would guess that Ontario is your closest commuter airport. The code is ONT. For hotels, anything really close to the track will probably suck. Maybe someone else can chime in since I live close enough to just go home but the area seems sketchy.

Use Ontario (ONT). SWA has a number of flights in and out of there everyday.

You could stay by the airport. Across the freeway from it is a huge mall complex that has hotels and a bunch of restaurants. You could even go up the hill 45 min or so to Lake Arrowhead.

Now mxgp as the format is it a must see Saturday and Sunday event ? Or is Sunday really the big day ? What do you mxgp fans recommend ?

Might just fly in late Saturday night and get an uber or taxi to the track and fly home Sunday night. unless Saturday Is worth it.

And they don't limit tickets Id imagine? Just like a regular ama pro nat buy a ticket at the door ?

Anything near San Bernardino for hotels would be a crap shoot. I would look towards Rancho Cucamonga area. That is a newer developed area with good hotel choices. Still @ 25min or so from GH.

Yeah I'm near Cleveland, Ohio. So if i'm flying all the way to cali, I'm willing to rent a car and stay anywhere up to 1 hour from the track, as long as it's nice.

I'd even rent a basement couch off someone for one night if they're close enough to the track. I don't smoke, name your price.....

Plus you could cruise holt ave if you get lonely......

I would stay in San Bernardino. Pick a known chain nicer Hotel near the highway. Stay away from anything with Motel in the name or that's under $60.00 a night including Motel 6.

Stay by the airport right off highway 10. There is Holiday Inn, Marriot, Double Tree and several others. Good area since the convention center is there. It is not that far to the track, but leave early to avoid traffic going into the track.
Directions: Jump on highway 10 west and then hit 15 north (not very far to 15 North)
Most all people go all the way to 215 and go back south a bit to palm Ave. Avoid that.
Before 15 and 215 merge...get off on Glen Helen Parkway and go right. Follow this road past the park until it ends at Cajon Blvd. Go right on Cajon Blvd.
Important: After a mile or so on Cajon blvd the road will fork...stay to the right on cajon blvd and this will get you across the railroad track. You will come to a stop sign at Palm Ave and take a right and that will take you to the track.

I do know a back way in, but it contains some off-roading. I use that on the way out. Compliments to PING.

Unless you want to go to MXdN at Glen Helen you'll have to wait until 2017. MXGP is the magic word.

You'll love going now, they've completed overpasses so that there are no more railroad crossings on the way into or out of the track.

I would stay in Rancho Cucamonga. It's 10 minutes from the airport and less than 20 minutes from the track. It's a very clean and safe city with lots of good restaurants. I would not stay in San Bernardino because it is an unsafe shit hole.

The best place to stay would probably be the Double Tree Hotel by Hilton. It is the official hotel for Glen Helen Raceway and the USGP. It is located in a good area of San Bernardino and is pretty central to surrounding restaurants.

With all due respect to supporting hotel I agree with abn166.

Halfway between airport and Glen Helen, near Victoria Gardens. Plenty to see for a short visit.
www.fourpointsontario-rc.com/ Get your kicks on Route 66
.

Enter race from the back entrance, via Glen Helen amphitheater Glen Helen Parkway exit @ 15 freeway,, it will save driving time and taxi fees. It is about a 1 mile hike on a paved road to the track, slightly uphill on the way back out.

Four points on corner of Rochester and foothill in rancho cucamonga. Or any of the hotels north of the 10 freeway in Ontario. I live in rancho and work in Ontario. That four points is minutes from in n out burger too lol

And don't forget chaparral isn't too far down the 215 from Glen Helen
