JoJo Keller at Southwick 1980. If he would have known about Howerton's brake checking he'd have won both motos.

Mosier worse than Village Creek? Mosier better in the 70's than in the 90's and 00's? Mosier day track a man-made supercross? I feel like I just walked into the twilight zone.

I rode Mosier back then in October 97 and I thought Village Creek had it beat, but maybe I caught it on a bad day or just wasn't feeling it.. Never understood what all the fuss was about.

Mosier was far better before one of the owners sold off a bunch of the dirt in the late 80s(?). It wasn't *bad* after that. It just lost some of its character and was more man-made supercross-like. Before that it had great natural elevation changes cutting in and out of the woods.

The best thing about Mosier is it was in the heart of the metroplex. Pretty much a half-hour for anyone.
Moiser sat in no-man's land, on the border of Dallas and Arlington. Neither city paid it much attention until one city realized the tax potential. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was back taxes (and all that construction w/o permits) that lead to Moiser's demise.

Personally, I preferred Village Creek during the day, and Moiser at night (those lights were epic). VC's night track was SX-like and the lighting was hit-or-miss, but I did like the MC (was Jack his name?).

Moiser at dusk was for thrillseekers only. The sun set behind a couple of big jumps, so the faces were blacked-out and your eyes were blinded simultaneously. You had a "pin it & pray" mentality for about 15 minutes every day.

I think it was money, hassles and encroaching development that led Surber to quit operating it. There are gas wells on the property now.

Gerry Surber ran the GNC series for years and years, headquartered out of Whitney. (Anyone remember "Gerry Needs Cash"?). About 1997 or 8(?) he made a deal to swap (if I remember right, it was a swap) Whitney for Mosier. That's when the GNC Final moved from Whitney to Mosier. Everyone was like, "WTF?". He made a lot of improvements to Mosier, but about 2007(?), the city - Ft. Worth, I think - went after the property hard. Don't remember if it was taxes or a zoning issue. But it was something like that. He said "To hell with it. Let's drill.".

When Surber took over Mosier, Terry Cordray(who had been running Mosier) started up Village Creek.

Arlington figured out the track was within its jurisdiction. It was cost prohibitive to bring the facility up to Arlington code.

Oh I remember the "Gerry Needs Cash" race haha. I thought the neighborhood that was built right by it (that you'd pass before crossing the train tracks) is what started the whole zoning war that ultimately killed it?

Whitney was always my favorite day track. If I could bring any track back for good that'd be it. Lots of memories made there for a lot of people I'm sure.

1990...Budds Creek National. I was staring at a top 5 Moto finish, if that Titanium shock bolt wouldn't have broke. Don't use Ti as shock bolts...crushing.

Shadow Glen track at Indian Dunes in the late 70's, early 80's. So many fast people there all the time. Always better than a national.

Bradshaw in any year. That cat road like crazy and most forget he was 17 years old in the 250 class as a rookie and winning races. Oh yeah he won on a freaking WR500 in 92 and that thing was a pig. He's a boss.

I'd like to see JS259 on his 125 in his prime

RV at the 07 des nations

Jeff Emig on the 500 at the des nations in Italy (I think)

Danny Hamel at the Adelanto Gran Prix

Scott Summers at any GNCC

Mike Larocco jumping the leap for the first time

Doug Henry and John Dowd at Southwick

McGrath and Co. jumping dunes at Glamis or Dumont

Pastrana pretty much anywhere

Superbikers race with Danny Chandler

Bob Hannah and Howerton banging bars

Danny Magoo Chandler, fall of 1983, track doesn't matter.
