Anyone's thoughts on it probably being Martin,Webb, and barcia. Racer X said it isn't final but that's the word around the pits, what do you guys think. I personally like it but I know some people aren't too cranked on Webb most likely racing a 450. Assuming that ends up happening,I hope it goes well and everyone keeps it on two wheels.

that's it, stick a 250 rider on a 450. I don't see it going well in that respect

Well I mean did he struggle by going down or fading at the end? A lap times sheet would be awesome.

You're really narrow-minded, aren't you? Chicken hasn't raced there in over 10 years...

I don't think Cooper totally waxed them, in this interview he talks about a couple of the Japanese guy's speed...

He also talks about the fans and every time that he signed an autograph picture etc., the fans have gifts for him...

snacks and headbands etc. New nickname for Cooper... " Kamikaze"

I can only assume there is something in play behind the scenes that we don't know about as the reasoning for this pick. To me, Ando, Trey, Baggett, even Grant would be better picks than Webb simply based on their experience on big bikes.

is there a rule that says Webb can't run his 250f in the MX3 class?

It should be new riders each year or 2 trips max.

It is a meaningless race made for fun and not worth ruining yourself over.

No,but you would be at a disadvantage in my book to ride a 250 instead of a 450.

I'm not sure that's true. But he wasn't a million miles faster than Graeme Irwin when he went over there. I would have waited to see how Canard does in the last 3 races. I don't know if Ernee will suit the style of any of the 3 guys, but of course they can adapt. I think they can win, but I don't think they will, if that makes sense

It's not called MX3 any more, it's called the Open class. Not sure what the rules are exactly, but Open by meaning is run what you brung. I think even if his lap times are faster on a 250, he needs to run the 450. Starts are huge there and last thing anyone (minus RV2) wants to do is battle big 450's from behind on a 250. Ernee is built on a huge hillside and simply goes up and down it--you want a 450.

You spelled MXDN wrong.

The problem with taking a guy like Webb on a 450 is that there is a risk of things going bad since it will be his first "real" race on a 450.

Do you guys think he will run a 450 in the last two Nationals?

The last time we did it was in 2009, and Ryan Dungey won the overall in MX1. Not saying that's the norm, just sayin... Wink

He'll be on a 450 in almost a year racing so I'm sure he's ready... I personally really like the idea of Webb going, he truly does not give a single f$&k about any pressure or bike size or new competitors. Watch he will do awesome.

Meaningless? Definitely not. This race means A LOT to a lot of people. I would think that most guys dream of one day representing their country.

True! But Dungey is an all timer and i feel like the GPs are stronger now than in 2009.

But Webb could be really good, or really bad. And by really bad i mean getting DNFs or DNS, It's a bit of a gamble but i think it's the right ting to do, USA needs to get a win again.

I agree with the people who favour TC on this one (or rather favour waiting). I think it would be a good idea to scrap any announcements and at least see how Trey does first today before making the decision. America wants to win again of course and taking a little extra time with this pick could end up being critical. I'm sure Cooper could work out just fine but I feel that the Ernee track would suit a smooth and technical rider like Canard very well. He's also totally accustomed to the 450 under high pressure race conditions.

Good picks. There will always be someone else who deserves to go as well that gets left behind due to injury, just coming back from injury, personal choice, or just the fact that we can only take three.
