fuckin A man.
For my favorite gutiar INTROS, well, I'd have to say Xanadu by Rush, Achille's last stand by Zeppelin, Stay with Me by the Faces, Battery by Mettalica, and Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria.

But whenever I host a party or am at least the first person to touch the stereo, I demand that the first thing everyone hears is the intro to Funk 49 by Joe Walsh, it makes me wanna party.

oh, but I think the most recognizable intro/riff of all time has to be Thunderstruck.

Anything by EVH is a given, but "Mean Street" comes to mind. I'll throw out..."Somewhere In Time" by Maiden.

There's a gajillion.

One that I think is awesome and comes in under the radar is Yellow Ledbetter. Another would be Candlebox, Far Behind.

Barracuda, Crazy Train, Sweet Child O' Mine Stand out in my head.

Recently, John Mayers "waiting on the world to change" has a cool intro.

Also, remember that band Ugly Kid Joe ("I Hate Everything About You")? Their second album, Menace to Sobriety has killer riffs from start to finish on it. Check out the album, if you like rock you will love the album, it is drenched with awesome guitar riffage and soloing. They were far more deep than their hit single displayed. Here are two songs from that album:

Shannon Larkin! I used to play in the same scene as him back in the eighties and he was incredible even then. Wrathchild (America), Ugly Kid Joe, Godsmack and Another Animal. I went to see him in Baltimore a few years ago (while he was playing with Godsmack) and was just blown away. He has developed into one of the best rock drummers there is. No one in the current spotlight has anything on Shannon.

Right on, Trip. "Mean Street" was my first thought. Also, the first few bars of "Ain't Talkin 'Bout Love".

I still remember hearing each of these when they first came out. As a young hard rock guitarist, it changed everything for me.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned "Alive" by Pearl Jam. I'm not really a fan, but Stone Gossard (or Mike McCready) deserves a lot of credit for writing one of the most ear-grabbing intros to ever grace radio.

Van Halen's Dead or Alive just came up on my player. Man these guys used to be good. Nothing compares to their first few albums.

DOA is my favorite HH song

that's a DLR tour de force
We was broke and hungry on a summer day
They sent the sheriff down to try an' drive us away
We were sittin' ducks for the police man
They found a dirty-faced kid in a garbage can, uh ha
Ooh! And I'm alone, I'm on the highway
Wanted, dead or alive
Dead or alive

More than a riff...you have to get through 2:30 of the foreplay.

You got that right. Kids today just dont understand how those first two LPs changed things.

EVH and DLR are morons, but the original line up was awesome.

Just saw them at the House of Blues in SD a little over a month ago. Great concert. Been into them since their first CD. Good stuff!

Robbie Robertson's Acoustic guitar riff at the begining of "The Weight" kills me every time.

Cant you hear me knocking is one of Keef's best. He has so many good ones other than that though.

Jimmy has a nice one on "The Lemon Song"
