Every time you think Maddo can't top his last stunt, he goes out and does it. The guy is just incredible.

He needs to hit a wave and pull off a double backflip.

Thats a serious gamble with probably a 20k bike!!!!! If it stalls, you don't just turn it upside down and get the water out.....Its lost at sea......game over.......You swim for your life with a helmet and mx boots on.......Crazy stuff.

However, it got me thinking what if.....I used to ride jet skis and we would go out and jump waves, but you beat them to death doing this......No suspension. What if you could make some kind of motorcycle looking jet ski that had suspension and doesn't sink to the bottom when you fall.

Here's the explanation of how they managed to avoid losing the bike.
After being completely blown away, mesmerized and slack-jawed at the creative mind to put this idea into a real project, I, too, began to realize that "crashing" would be a lost-forever bike at the very least, and a bad time for Maddo in full motocross gear in deep water at the worst.

Of course it makes backwards sense. Who has felt that railing the perfect berm was like the harmony of riding the perfect wave?

The editing, camera work, and music choice are all brilliant!! One of the coolest videos ever!

Cool stuff! But for gawdsakes.... the chopping editing, slow/standard pacing is soooo overdone and so bad.

My jaw dropped at the ending wave. Robbie Maddison is a bad dude, our generation's Evel Knievel.

Dig (especially) your perspective. But, from a fan's POV, Wow. Just a nice blend of dramatic new-school music and gradual release of the sea-change (no pun intended) in expectations of a "dirt"bike.

Of course I think any terrain dirtbiking is superior. But, creatively? Hit it out of the park. A one-run-homer is still impressive. Dropping off the Arc de Triumph??? Never no how.

He needed a 500cc to outrun that set wave....pummeled.
They tried a CR 500 and a KTM SX-F, the power wasnt a big advantage, found number of paddles on the tire was the bigger deal, so they choose the SX because they rebuilt and inspected the bike after every "sink", 40 times they went under. I could only imagine what sea water does to a engine in just a very short time.

That said, I think the project and effort was awesome!

Bloody hell I thought there was some dumb Motocross fans out there, but Moto people are nothing compared to some of the nut jobs commenting on this video on surfing Facebook pages. They think their Surf is now going to turn into a Motocross fun park.

I just saw this and couldn't help laughing and smiling about how cool this is. Maddo is a crazy sob that gets to do things I only wish I could. That was pretty damned awesome!

If you thought the average MX fan was intellectually challenged. The average surf crowd sheds a whole new light on just how low the human IQ level can actually go. lol

Right at the end when the video cuts off, I have to think the engine's pulling water after being crushed in the curl. Would be fun to see the endo into the drink that would have resulted.

Meanwhile, at the Pastrana compound, Travis is filling out an order form for a set of those outriggers, a paddle tire, and planning the wave backflip.
