Motocross is still a cheap sport. What other motor sport can you finance your race equipment. Not sprint cars. Not late models. Not go carts. Not drag cars. Unless you're racing the stock classes. Come on guys. You're getting a lot for 9 grand. Something that the right person can compete with on the professional level.

Will the last person who can't afford a 10k dirt bike please turn the lights out and lock the door on the way out.

Thank you... Mgt.

I was on a mtb forum a couple years ago when guys were taking the price of mountain bikes. I said that there were too many manufacturers and if there were less the ones that existed could sell bikes cheaper because of the increased volume. Those tofu eating hippies scolded and flamed me
about how beautiful it was that they had so many choices on bikes to buy.

I said how stupid it was that a mtb was 8,000 and what you could buy in the dirt bike world for that price. Then they acted like they were lucky to be able to spend 8k on a bicycle. Blink

I'm glad he posted this. It made me go out and look at the 80 hours on my 450's meter and that made me think about how many pistons, rings, bearings, clutches, KIPS cleanings and crap I'd have in my 500 in that same 80 hours.

Congrats!

You'll have a chain & sliders/chain-guides that actually last. Graphics and Plasitc that don't come-off or turn white from your 1st fall. A seat that lasts. Check out the hubs and triples! Yup, MACHINED. Pretty sure it's coming with Excels and MX32s or 52s. Hell, I even run the stock bars and grips on that bike.

Again, congrats on your "wise investment".

I'm looking forward to putting a 16 350 XC or 300 XC in my garage this fall/winter (probably the 350...). Even though it will cost me about $10K OTD (thank you Utah sales tax!)...

My only hang-ups are that I think the 16 YZ450's are really sweet. And I love YZ's. And, MOSTLY, I've been a little scared off about the 4cs forks...even the guys on KTM talk are having fits with them...they all recommend sending them to Kreft Moto for a revalve...but that's a $1700 revalve. How bad does it suck to spend $10K on a dirt bike and then have to spend another $1700 on suspension? (On top of a Rekluse EXP Core 3.0, and skid plates, and a sparky, and fasstco flex bars, and a stabilizer, and an IMS tank, and on and on and on).

I'm concerned about the forks as well. I'm pulling the trigger on a 450SXF. I hope I don't regret it. Someone tell me it'll be ok. Hahaha

I have an 11 with all of the parts you listed including a full Rekluse Core EXP that will all bolt right in but I'm wanting to try something new. From my understanding, the 15 is just my 11 with minor changes and an air fork.

I actually have radiator braces, complete body kits with graphics (x 2), Rekluse core exp, 2 Yosh full systems (one Ti and one SS), oversized rotor kit, probably a dozen twin air filters, spare seat and countless other parts. After all that, I still wanted to try something new this year. Maybe I shouldn't. In fact, maybe I should just keep my 11.
How do you like that clutch? I've been kicking around the idea for my '13 RMZ for a long time, and just can't seem to pull the trigger.

Vegas to Reno
Numerous MX races
Plenty of Off-Road races

80 Hours happens pretty damn fast and the parts MUST be repleced or you start eating things...like...
Cylinders
Cranks
Etc., etc., etc. ...

Also, you can argue with guys like Jon Braasch that's built more of these than just about ANYONE; but, I'm not.

Then there's this: I just rode the Rip to Cabo on a Husky FE350S. I put a coupl'a hundred miles on it before the ride to break it in. Enough miles to wreck the stock Michelins. I put another 1500 miles on it AFTER the Rip. I'm about to take it on another Baja ride called The Beach Bash. You know how many parts I've repleced in the motor?

Zero.

Go do that with a Smoker.

PM me and you can ride my Husky...let the non-clicking nay-sayers believe whatever they want. You can see for yourself and post your thoughts.

I'll be taking it out to Pala or Milestone next week...check-out ride before The Beach Bash.

I have the Rekluse core exp in my 13' RMZ450. If you race or ride any offroad, it is more than worth it. If you just ride MX then it's a toss up. You'd probably be better off stock piling fresh tires.

No worries...lol

My understanding is that the Husky's have forks more similar to the KTM XC-W line, which are slightly different from the forks on the XC's. (I'm not sure on the technical differences, though.) And it sounds like people have been able to work with the XC-W's forks for woods riding...but are having nightmares with the XC's everywhere.

I don't want an XC-W because I don't need/want the headlight, or the wide ratio trans. And the XC-W are way to soft for desert racing (though they are amazing in the woods).

Yup!

The SXFs & XCs are too harsh/stiff for most folks. The EXC/W & FE settings are better, even for Moto, than the stock SXF settings (2015 bikes NOT including the new Factory Edition).

So with the 4CS forks on the 450 SXF, is a basic Factory Connection (or comparable) revalve good enough for the average Vet B motocrosser? Keep in mind, I'm coming off a Suzuki that's heavy, kinda slow, real nervous but turns like a cat on carpet.

Just random FYI: I can say that I weigh 150 and have never had to switch out springs until my 250sx. I had to go lighter springs front and rear when WP revalved it.

I just had fc do my 15 factory edition. The forks are pretty good. Midstroke harshness is gone, and doesnt blow thru stroke and bottom hard anymore. Pretty satisfied with them. The shock, haven't given it much thought, so that means its good to me. FC definately made the bike plusher, with no hard bottoming. Hope that helps

Yep. Agree 100%. Bike won't make you any faster.

I've had expensive road bikes, mountain bikes, dirt bikes, and two different boats. I buy second hand and always 2-3 seasons old on anything with two wheels, 15-20 on boats. Learn to buy smart and don't get caught up in the newest and latest. Hobby's should never be financial commitments, yet you watch people will go put and finance a new dirt bike. Lol

Funny I built a forged SBC for my scorpion last fall and it ran me right around 3k with machine work and a used set of patriot heads. Should net me right around 400 HP. Of course I reassembled and installed myself. Would much rather work on a boat than a vehicle. People pay dumb amounts for service. I did my bellows, gimbal bearing, lower shift cable on my alpha out drive for less than 300. Shops around here quoted me 1000-1500 for the same.
