Hi all new to the forums just signed up

As stated in the title im looking for a set of nos oem radiator shrouds in white for a 1987 yz250 anybody have a set or know a place i can get some ?

I know about the dcplastic's version but they are not good enough for the quality of the restoration im doing

I also use the Mxtrax forum but that place is dead and buried so thought i would make the move over to vital for the higher traffic levels, more activity and hopefully better conversation

Anyway guys thanks for taking the time to read my post and i hope someone can help me out with the radiator panels

Regards Andy

Just checked my dealer locator, no U.S dealers that use Lightspeed have it.
2HH-21731/21741-00-00 correct?

There is no link that I can send you to our dealer locator. If a dealer did have it available, I would get you their contact info. Unfortunately I could not find them available.

Thanks for the offer bro very kind of you but i have already sourced a set in europe for 180 euro's

I am just seeing if i can find a set a little bit cheaper first as the RRP is around 80 euro's

I can get the dc plastics version for around 110 euro's but at that price i might as well pay the 180 for the original set

But even so thankyou very much for taking the time to reply its still appreciated, any lead on them is better than no leads at all

Hi Andy

if u planning to ride the bike why don't u restore the original ones
i restored mines on the rm125 1987 running bike and i bought the new originals for the collection one
u will have to sand the covers ,start with 120 grit ,then 240 grit, then 400 grit and finally 600 grit
after do compound(for light to medium scratches) on a buffing pad and finally use a plastic compound like maguire for shine on a buffing wheel too

Hi macol, the original ones have been painted blue

They are in real rough shape and are cracked and chipped

If you check out my rebuild thread in this section, you will see why only new will do

Ive spent an insanely high amount of money on this project, probably to much

The engine alone has had roughly $2000+ spent on it

I can't help it i am obsessed with it

Yeah but you probably won't be interested most people don't seem to care, i am contemplating either finishing the thread or just abandoning it

Don't think it has gotten much interest because i have gone for the custom look its not showroom original

Plus its my first ever go at a full restoration so its far from perfect but its still cost thousands as the bike was in real rough shape to start with

But anyway here you go

Good to see you're building what you want, and that it'll be ridden when it's done too.

You can't please everyone. Remember you're building the bike for you and nobody else.

nobody can deny the effort you're putting into making it what you want. Keep it up.

Hi Andy -- don't be discouraged bro!

I've found a lot of personal fulfillment -- and made some good buddies -- from this hobby. Think of it like music. Some people can't stand Led Zeppelin ... I love 'em. I'm from Texas, everyone here loves Country music -- it puts me to sleep.

As long as you're having fun reliving your childhood, enjoy it. Some folks will get it, some won't.

I'm really glad things worked out with Claudio for you to finish your project. I've bought several seatcovers from him over the years and he's been a pleasure.

I enjoy reading your thread and am looking forward to seeing it completed.

Thanks for the kind comments guys they mean a lot glad to know some people are interested

The list of parts needed is getting smaller by the day only a few parts still needed, the new wheel rims and rebuild of the wheels themselves is one of the last big jobs thankfully

Think i will sort wheels last once everything else is finished

Does anybody know if excel can supply blank undrilled rims ?

Check with any of the vendors that supply complete wheels. If they can't get blanks they should be able to point you to whoever can.

Andy, finish the thread! I can guarantee you that any rebuild thread is of interest. Build it for YOU and to hell with anyone who doesnt like it-but let us see the completion of your bike!

Andy - Excels are usually pre-drilled to suit the specific bike.
I've had Hagon in Essex build me wheels before, and they've used Akront blank rims and drilled them to suit. from memory the Akront gold is the paler more retro finish too.
