our sport, in the global grand scheme of things, isn't much bigger than those guys who race jet boats in the little creeks, around in circles. it is what it is.

Why do we care what Forbes thinks of our sport and it's riders anyways?

Cricket is probably the most normal sport there except for football (that´s soccer for fans of Hand-egg).

No one in moto is anywhere near 18 million. Not even close

The top guy in our sport might bring in 5 million a year in this day and age. 10 years ago it was probably 10 million. Still no where near the stick and ball sports.

Hand-egg... Love it...

I'm as American as they come and I've always thought it was stupid for us to have named a sport that is 95% played with the hands... Football...

Forbes is all about the money.

Feld makes the top 100 businessmen / millionaire list every year.

Top 100 athletes must be paid an obscene amount to be considered. No dirtbike rider is paid an obscene amount.

I wonder what their salaries are? Maybe top few guys a couple million? That's just purely a guess and could be way off.

More money more problems. Mx is slowly creeping into the big leagues, I just hope it doesn't turn into a dramatized sport (boxing).

Interesting figures! Sponsor money definitely not included, it's like listing stick and ball athlete contracts without considering that Michael Jordan was probably making triple his salary or more in sponsorship deals in his prime.

I'm willing to bet riders' sponsorship deals are incentivized too. Win a race? Maybe Target cuts Dungey a check for X amount?

This is from MXA on Sunday:

"Ryan Dungey reached the “Million Dollar” mark with his win in Tennessee. It was his second 450 National win of 2015 and when added to his eight Supercross wins his per race victory bonuses now add up to $1,000,000 — not counting his hefty salary (which he just renewed for two more years), outside sponsorship dough, $200,000 in Supercross purse/bonus money and his $1,000,000 Supercross Championship bonus. No need to add it all up, he’s not done yet."

So Dungey is probably $2.5m this year already? Obviously he'll be head and shoulders above the rest, because nobody else collected a million dollar bonus for the SX championship. As we can see though, even at his highest earnings potential (another mil for winning MX plus victory bonuses along the way plus his undisclosed salary which I would guess might be 1 mil a year) he might be in the neighborhood of $5 mil? Pales in comparison to stick and ball where the superstars could be in the 8-10-12 mil per year range, just for salary, and there's multiple contracts just like that on the same team even. Long way to go boys.

Not that I care. Just love watching and participating in the sport, and love that there's enough exposure to get every supercross on tv live and (most) every moto live.

Think you will find on a worldwide scale cricket is a "normal" sport. Its big in India, England and Australia for starters.
