I think the coolest thing about Dungey, is his ability to pass people while at the same time giving them plenty of room. He doesn't have to force the issue, he knows how to pass using different lines and techniques than the rider in front of him. His fav technique is the cut down pass where he starts his corner before the guy in front of him, and then gets on the gas before the guy in front of him and ends up on the inside of the guy, then drag races the guy to the next corner (and almost always beats him).
and when Dungey is out front, theres almost no stopping him with a clear track. He hardly fades during a main or moto. And as far as top guys are concerned, he has had some of the worst luck in regards to mechanicals. I pin this down to the fact that he has never been on the best bike or team, which makes him even more amazing. He has been on Suzuki and KTm, while Kawasaki and Honda have always been the best bikes and teams. If RD were on a Kawi during the years RV won most of his races, and RV was on a Suzuki / KTM those years, I guarantee you it would have been RD with more wins than RV.
Dungey is going to win a lot more championships and I bet he will be racing for wins and championships for 10 more years. I think in the next 5 years he is going to rack up a TON of wins and championships. You see, he is playing the long game. Very gradually get better and faster year after year. Ride within limits. Stay off the ground. Infact that should be priority number one for all racers. FINISH THE RACE WITHOUT CRASHING. a Small tipover here and there is fine. But no crashes. Its not worth the risk to ride the edge. RV got away with MANY close calls in his prime years, and obviously had his nasty 2010 crash that cost him lots of time. I also bet that crash in particular made him lose some love for moto. Its just not as fun when you have to endure pain and time off like that.
I feel really bad for Eli... But, it could very well turn out exactly like RV. Major injury, and then come back a year later and start cranking out the wins. But you can be assured Dungey will be there to challenge him.
The part about him being a great passer? Hahaha oh my!
Dunge has no flash and some people call that boring, get over it. No shit he's a bad dude and there's nothing wrong with not having any flash but you have to call a spade a spade.

Bailey was a great rider. Dungey is a great rider, right along with most all the other names mentioned in this thread.
Hope they can all stay healthy and give the fans outstanding action for the summer season.
Some of the posting habits of our friendly Vital membership leave a lot to be desired..
I never intended this to be a "Who was better.....". That would be a disservice to either rider.
From the video I've seen of David Bailey and currently watching Ryan...they are both so efficient and smooth, in my mind, the two are very similar. Both are the type of rider that are so smooth, that one starts thinking, "I can ride like that". i.e. so smooth they look almost like they are trail riding. We've all seen guys that are all over the bike, looking like they are going 100 mph while riding to the start gate.
He is perfect, smooth , precise and fast.
Never risk beyond his capabilities and always bring the results home.
He is very clever too.
Windham was smooth too, but was not on the level as Dungey.
The smoothest rider of all was Everts, Dungey is right there but a little more aggressive
Mousquin has the style I would kill for too.....
Anyone, including RJ, that was there, knows this to be true.
