Well at least there is a very offroad worthy yz 250x for 2016 i dont mind its not a 300 since i ride 250 s.

Black wheels make them look cheap and the graphics on the yellow ones, Holy shit, why didnt they bring back the yellow of when Reed raced a yellow Yamaha.

Horrible.. The good news is, they must be losing sales to KTM/Beta/TM/Husky etc whos owing the off road segment.

Not sure on the 300 happening but my Yamaha rep said there are going to be some new releases tomorrow.

And where's the 6-speed tranny and the lighting coil? I can do without e-start, but it'd be nice to not have to wire in some lights... oh well

It's awesome Yamaha decided to take a step in this direction, but like you said it's far from competitive with other offroad 2-strokes. Unfortunately, I think they will need to make some real upgrades to their 2-strokes to actually make some sales. The 09 200xc I'm on now has definitely been a lot more work. If 2017 they make some real changes, Ill start considering it again.

Nope, the 250FX has the same 2.0 gallon tank as the regular YZ250F.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having an offroad race bike if it has a motocross size tank on it.

Personally, this IMS option is just too fugly...

Where I'm from the Pro's that have been ruling cross-country, harescrambles and enduro have been riding YZ250's...for the past few years. Revalved suspension, handguards, that's it. To say this bike would be uncompetitive is silly.

I did not mean competitive in terms of performance. I meant in terms of sales. IMHO i think a lot of people will have a hard time paying full price for a bike they know they will immediately buy a new tank and other accessories for when there are other options out there that will not have to do this for. I could be wrong, and I hope I am. I just want to see Yamaha actually make some profit and see the potential of putting some work into improving their 2-strokes.

Sorry my bad! I take those words back.

It will likely sell fairly well. Yamaha has a hard core following (like any brand) and they just gave everyone another nice choice to consider. When it comes to mods and add on's it's the same with any new bike people buy (especially the KTM guys) People like suspension done, pipes, guards, stabilizers, bars, graphics, billet this and billet that. I'm with you, I hope Yamaha succeeds with this, and I'm sure they will.

Oh gotcha, for some reason I thought the WR and the FX had a larger tank by a few tenths of a gallon, but you're right, they're all the same...

For what it's worth, my 250XCW has a 2.1 gallon tank on it and it's not terrible on gas. Can usually get about 60 miles out of a tank.

I wonder how much width that IMS tank adds on a Yamaha fourstroke... I think it looks better than having a giant bulge under the gas cap like the KTM IMS tanks have... Or the YZ 2-stroke IMS tanks lol

Sorry my man, but the 2015 YZ250 outsells every 250 two stroke from KTM/Husky. In fact, the only two stroke that has outsold the YZ is the KTM 300 XC-W and not by much.

Well that may be true, I honestly don't know where to find sales numbers or I would have checked. Regardless I wasn't trying to compare raw numbers. My point was whether or not they will make enough sales to want to improve their 2stroke line up. I got the idea (or hope i should say) this a test run, and there is more to come. The problem I see that they may find that with the yz250x release they will have only split their 250 2stroke sales, still selling close to same amount in the long run. Therefore not seeing any additional profit.

As a side note I'm curious how the 2015 yz250 sales compare to the 250sx, 250xc, and 250xcw combined? In a way that has been Yamaha's answer to these 3 bikes until now. Yes I realize that's not quite a fair comparison either.
