I haven't read anything worthy on vital in weeks. Until I started reading about the chad reed posts. I've been watching the races quite a bit and there isn't much coverage on the crazy Australian. It seems like Chad can't really back up his results like I have said in the past. He gets lucky for a few races, but he is no title contender.

So what's the point of him creating all this drama if he can't back up the results? Just for the sake of it, Who would actually miss the aussie if he left because of this camera gig? I feel like this is just another way for him to stay in the media!

Is it time for Reed to just retire and run a team instead of being a rider? Is this Reed's way of leaving with an excuse because he's washed up? Not trying to be negative, just trying to see who actually cares if reed leaves..

What I don't understand is why you started a new thread and didn't just post in one of the current Chad threads. But hey, do you.

You contradict yourself badly with the title of this thread. Why ask if you Don't care???

Nevertheless, the answers and opinions can be found in the original thread.

The notion that the series would be financially ruined or even strained over one rider leaving the series is such a failure of an argument. What happens when these guy retire? And how is that different from the way it would go down if he actually packed up his toys and went home at this point? Riders can't stick around forever. Many riders have come and gone and the sport goes on.

I hate when I'm up in the middle of the night wondering why people even care about things on Vital. There's like nothing even good to read here, and I just wonder why people care and if Reed should retire and if we'd even miss him since he can't back up his results after creating all this drama and I just lay awake wondering why I even care about you guys caring. Hate when that happens.

He's had a great career but is def going out on a sour note. I will miss him racing and his style but not this ridiculous drama.

That's what happends when you think you are bigger than the sport itself....well it sure seems that way sometimes. Will miss him in supercross, but outdoors he's just another body on the gate, not a contender.

Really wish he would of retired a couple of years ago. Kind of sad to see a rider that was a title contender not know when to hang it up. Looking forward to the day that he manages a team be it his own or someone else's. I just think he starts this kind of media buzz to make him think that he still matters in this sport

Why would anyone give a shit about when and why Reed retires? He will forever be in the folklore of motocross history.....long after your stupid, negative (without trying) opinion has expired!

Talk about an ironic first sentence!!!

That is more then almost the entire field of pros. But with that said, most of the field of pros fighting to make the main let alone win won have never been champion like Chad.

I think him making this stand now has alot to do with his age and proximity to retirement. 10 years agao he would've just copped it on the chin and signed with another team and raced for a paycheck.

Now he sees more of the bigger picture when it comes to outside sponsorship and teams ability to exist and even make money in this sport and takes offense to being told how and when he can do it.

Yes the sport will go on without Chad, or RCH, or JGR, but what it wont go on without long term is the outside sponsors and money these teams are bringing in. Thats something the powers that be need to keep in mind when they implement rules.

Maybe it smells a bit of taking his bat and ball and going home, but it could also be more along the lines of, why should he spend his own money to go racing and help line the pockets of the promoters with his team and profile, when he has a company willing to shell out big money for him to do it, while also providing more exposure for the sport and the series the promoters are trying to develop. The ball is in MXsports court on this one, and personally i hope they choose to let him wear his camera.

Just my thoughts on the situation.

You know, I was thinking about asking some pros to sign up and schedule some Q&A sessions, but I'm not seeing much in the way of respect for even the most senior of pros.

I guess Chad is a true free market capstalist and doesn't believe in monopolies. What's wrong with that?

I'm fairly confident that there would be a good amount of idiots around here that would ask/say disrespectful things just to be "that guy."

and there will be a few 250 riders coming into the 450's next year, if they adapt well it could make things interesting for the er more mature riders.

That would be a lot of fun. You'd have to moderate the questions though to avoid the BS. You might get what 2 or 3 good questions? Blink

That would be pretty dang cool. Sure, you'd get a couple silly questions, but like you said, it would be a way to clean up some of the trash when they post totally inappropriate ones. Sounds like a win win to me!

This week he's standing up for the chance for riders to make more money...

Submit all questions through a mod. That way all the chum gets thrown in the bucket and the top 20 make the main.
