And the little Kaw version was called the KDX50. Same bike, just green plastic....Good luck, have fun!!!!

So what we did after a short stint with the Honda CRF50 and the rock hard suspension, was get a KTM Jr Pro and put in the clutch springs from an adventure instead of the washers. With the springs it was like a PW50 but better suspension. So much lighter then the Honda.

A buddy of mine had a 06 pw50 he said I could borrow and if the kids liked it he will sell it to me. It needs a little work (carb clean & steering bearings) done to it which I don't mind. would love to post pics and vids but it won't working the mobile version anymore.
That is a great idea. Does anyone have a bike I can use? If I like it I will buy it.

I didn't read every post, but it really depends on a few things. Is he going to start racing soon? What size is he? The ttr is a better overall bike, but bigger, heavier, and not competitive in the class that it has to run.

The KTMs and Cobras are awful expensive play bikes. I don't think I'd go down that road unless you are going to go racing. And I wouldn't start a kid on one even if he was going to race.

Your best bet is the ttr50. Trust me. I watched a kid that was 4 today jump that thing 5-10 feet and it was so much more stable then most bikes are. The Ktm is like a race bike, it's so light it can get away from kids fast.

Go with the PW50, and save the money for the $80,000 motor home you'll now need to haul her around in to all the mini nationals.........HAR! Just kidding--I bought my grand daughter a PW50 vs. the KTM when she turned 4, and it was the right call, she's having an absolute BLAST on it now, and rather than being scared, she asks her dad to take her out riding when he gets home from work every night. Now, if they just made a Disney Princess helmet and riding gear........

Its not a good thing to watch your kid consistently jumping stuff and bouncing when he hits the ground. Save your money and get something decent from the begining. The new ktm mini sx 50 has a throttle control you can back off just like a pw.

PW or a JR 50. Every kid should start on one of these two IMO. No need for a KTM if it's for a beginner and just for fun. She probably wouldn't like the KTM anyway.

Ended up going to the dealership and grabbing a ttr50 for her. The pw was a bit small and we can add mods to the ttr as she grows. She has already rode it and is absolutely loving it. the PW will be staying and I will get it dialed in for when my son is ready to ride. Project racer you were some great help. Really appreciate it.
