Silly to insinuate he was in any danger whatsoever. He wouldn't have made it past the gate without knowing something was up. Wouldn't have made it past the first corner without pulling off. Oh, and he was made aware before he ever got on the track. This point is moot.
It's a bummer Don had to resort to this. He provided services he wasn't paid for. In my opinion, he handled it well. No physical altercation, doesn't sound like a lot of screaming and carrying on. Just a, "give me my money, and your bike will be put back to the fire breathing monster I built you."
I've been on the other side of a customer not coughing up the 20 grand they owed me. You start seeing red real quick

You have no dog in this fight any way.

I believe every sanctioning body prohibits the tampering of equipment at any time. In my series that would be a lifetime ban for first offense.

I just hate how people can defend a rider that would not pay their bills, and risk the livelihood of this Engine Builder who does pay his bills.

The amount of riders who need a real life wakeup call about how to live responsibly is growing into a large list.

no idea, I think it was his son n law who was doing the suing after Friese incident.
I'm all for getting what's owed to you. I'm sure their was a much better way in the 5 months leading up to GH though

Serial numbers removed from an engine usually means something is stolen. While Don is no stranger to controversy, banning him and Josh Pitts (whom I had the pleasure of working with several years back at Freestone) while allowing someone to race with a stolen engine smells of bullshit. Josh is a good guy.

The facebook post in the other thread

"There has been a lot of speculation as to what has went on between myself and other parties at Glen Helen. The matter has been handled as MX Sports has seen fit and I fully support their decision. I would also like to say that I personally am not responsible for the money owed. The issues are between other people and I am caught in the middle. I hope the other parties can resolve this problem and move on. I am washing my hands with it and moving on. My focus is representing my sponsors in the best way I can and riding my dirtbike. I want to thank my sponsors and family for their continued support!"

shows a true lack of character by this rider as he acknowledges that money is owed yet he intends to continue riding his dirtbike with serial numbers removed from the engine. Sad days people, sad days.

My 2 cent on the missing casting #.

I bought officially an engine from one of the team riders.
Was a practice engine when I got it there was no serial nr.
On the cylinder there was something engraved.

Don't know if this is the regular case but my engine was like this no casting #.

newmann, I guess this is where you and I disagree. No matter the circumstances, you CANNOT take matters into your own hands, in this case. Clearly, MXSports sees it that way too. I'm not taking sides as to who owes for what, or hasn't been paid, but if you allow this to go unpunished, you just open the floodgates for all kinds of shit like this. If the motor isn't paid for, Leib has legal standing to pursue the money. He does NOT have the right to go do what he did, in a situation like that. If it was a private track, and no sanctioning body was involved, then it's a whole different deal. That is where Lieb screwed up. Should he be paid for the motor? Absolutely!

Yes but when you plug your laptop in and see that it is your software running the show that is a pretty good giveaway as to whose engine it is.

Courts ordered people to leave their houses in 2008 when they didn't pay for them, that worked out great after people took jack hammers to the entire house before leaving. "Here's your engine back Don , craziest thing happened when i rode it last, the damn thing just blew upWhistling "

No, you and I are not disagreeing, Don should have handled it differently. But who exactly asked who to come reprogram the bike? I have read a couple different takes on that. I also understand this is the first time this engine has surfaced in quite some time as in since someones grandma promised to pay and it left Don's shop. The kids "free" subscription expired. He still has the bike doesn't he?

Since you are in the transportation business, what happens when he heads north to Canada and crosses the border with serial numbers scraped off the engine?

In New Zealand we cant sue for stupid shit like this.
The owner of the engine would take it back no problem.

& everyone at the track would judge the p.o.s who didn't pay for it badly.

Honestly your laws are a bit fucked when the guy who owns the engine is not allowed to leverage it back / the bad guy gets away looking like his shit doesn't stink.

Usually everybody takes care of the VIN.
I plan to take my bikes someday back to Germany all they ask for is the VIN.

Reason for that might be the engine is part of the bike (VIN) and if you buy a new cases there is no casting #.

So you can claim I bought a new case.

I've ordered things and paid for them when they come in. I'd consider it more than ordered, it's been used/in the teams posession. Legally, maybe you are correct but homie don't play that!
