What do you guys think the riders of today would say if they showed up and had to ride a track in this condition?
*I know its shitty quality, this was shot by Magoos wife Tracey, she took vids at pretty much every race Danny was in, when i would stay up at his house i would sit for hours and hours in the living room with a big box of tapes. Danny would sometimes get pissed, "Why you watching that shit!" he was going through some pretty hard times back then.

Well he was in a full on battle again with Broc, and on that big downhill step down Danny would come flying off it every lap and coming into the corner take his hand off the bars and rip the brake line out of the wheel, and never miss a beat. That is one of the clips he himself would actually like watching if he had a good buzz on, he would keep pausing and rewinding, "Look at that Scott, how the hell am i holding on to it?"
I brought some vids up of the SX season around the time of JMB's era, and he would get so pissed, "Back in my day we wouldnt let no Frenchie get away with that shit!"
If today's riders had to ride a track like that, most of 'em would probably run home to mommy and lock themselves in their room until the big bad AMA agreed to fix it.
after watching these old vids and seeing how crappy the suspension was on the works bikes was it makes me realize just how good todays bikes are.
i love the brake checks. pooseys nowadays would pee their pants of that happened to them
Not trying to piss anyone off but have you ever see the INT class whipping it over large large jumps? Ever rail a rut at the end of the day after today's 4 strokes have carved up tilled dirt?
They didn't even till back in the day. Or water as that video showed.
Major respect to the oldtimers for riding those beasts and keeping them alive through 45 mins......but the speed?
That speed ain't competitive today.
I remember watching Magoo step up the finish line at Gatorback and there was nothing slow or "B" class about it.
Even more true when the lip got worn down so he couldn't clear it anymore but he continued to hit it just as hard.
Still one of the most brutal and gutsy things I have ever witnessed in this sport.
That speed on that track and on those bikes in a 45 minute moto would lap any intermediate rider from today.
MR
1983 was the first year they races all 3 classes, 125, 250, & 500, on the same day.
They also cut the motos to 30 minutes + 2 laps.
and Mr. know-nothing, they did till back then, they just didn't groom it all day every time satelite imaging notes a bump or rut exceeding 3".
And as far as your little 4 stroke bumpy ruts, there were at least 9 qualifiers at most nationals, + 2 more actual motos which did much more wear to the track then today's pussified "timed" qualifying.
You should consider changing your name to "KnowNothingNovice"
Pit Row
And for the record I've seen Magoo race live and in person. 30 years ago.
Ask Jody if he designs Glen Helen for today's pussies.
would love to see that denver first moto you mentioned..
sounds killer.
I drove by Thunder Valley today on my way back from riding the mountain bike, and it looks like a paved freeway. They groom the crap out of that thing.
why don't you him and also ask if magoo was as fast as a b rider today. post up the answer too you fucking know it all.
