Did I say that?? No, I fucking didnt! My point was that pro athletes get fined even when they didnt purposely hurt a player.

I am just thinking out loud here, But does Canard deserve a fine for his actions last weekend? In the NFL, MLB, and NBA, players will be fined for bringing pain or foul play upon their competition. Canard is a repeat offender, should he be slapped with a penalty?
Shocking post, coming from someone in ID and all.

Canard is a repeat offender!!
In an effort to avoid another rider, Jake jumped in front of Trey and cased the jump... not sure how that is Trey's fault. He went from the middle of the track to the left of the track. Not saying it's Jake's fault either, as he was trying to avoid a potential accident, which in turn caused another accident. Racing incident.

So should Jake be fined as well? If he hadn't made a mistake first then Canard wouldn't have crashed, so by that logic Jake could be fined by unintentionally injuring Trey. See how ridiculous that logic would be in racing?

Exactly. This would be the equivalent of a batter stepping into the path of the ball, getting hit, and then the "repeat offender" pitcher getting fined for hitting the batter.

Actually, now that I think of it....Ricky Martin might be onto something. The AMA could go back and check the film throughout all the years and impose fines on every racer that unintentionally hurt someone else. The AMA would cash in on tons of money and the series would be financially secure for years to come......and then we would all be....livin la vida loca!

I understand how it may not apply that great to racing. I am more getting at how repeat offenders should be subject to penalty. May help Canard ride smarter and be more in control in dangerous situations.

I could see the logic in wanting a rider to maintain control but in no way was Canard or any other rider riding wild or crazy. This incident happened off the start. If you have ever raced a motocross race, or done a full gate motocross start you would understand that while everybody is all bunched up, it is crazy. Lots of things happen in the pack that normally do not happen once the riders get sorted out a little. Also the act and react times are very short and sometimes there is just no way to avoid a crash because one has already committed. This is just a racing incident, no more. End of stories, and end of talk about fines.

I think you just want to lay down rules of law, without any sort of understanding of the mechanics of whats happening. In other words you want strict justice but no grace.

Just plain sucks for Trey. The hard thing is, there was absolutely nothing he could have done to avoid it. I could understand if he wrecked on his own, but he was basically an innocent bystander. Its just one of those things. What can you do?

I understand your thinking on this and agree that if it happened weekly between riders then something would need to be done about it. I really think though that the last thing any rider out there wants to do his hurt themself or anyone else. You have 20+ guys out there on a track that's only so wide, add the fact that there are no lanes that riders must stay in and then through the height factor in there and you get pure chaos. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often during the first lap, it amazes me every time I watch the start and first few laps of a race.
