What was the reason they dropped them? Time?

Why not add a semi loaded with10 from each heat.

Maybe take 6 from each heat leaving 4 from each heat that go direct to lcq. The other 10 from each heat load into a semi.

Take 5 from it 3 from lcq.

I know it wont happen but a non RD5,track suxs,,DD ,RV2 post seemed like a good change up.

Fuck semi's in general.

I like Heat, LCQ, Main.

Semi's take a lot of the excitement of points leaders not making the main lol I want longer races rather than more races.

I like more racing no doubt. Just thinking about it, the way Martin was riding last night the last thing he needed was another moto. Huh

True.

I miss the day heats. Some of the best racing I've seen at Atlanta was before 5pm.

Agreed, the more racing, the happier I am. Some of the Semi battles have been great, plus it creates an elevated sense of urgency in the heat races with only four riders transferring.

They should get rid of east and west. Make it 1 group, add semi's, and make the mains 20mins +2laps.

More racing is fine by me but I'll take live TV coverage of the whole night as the trade off. Time is why it won't happen so they'd have to shorten laps and the races are already short enough.

I'd rather see heats be the qualifying races for the night show that take place during the afternoon, then have two mains for each class for the night show.

semis insure the privateers never make it into the mains for the most part. the privateers are always those guys in the 6-9 spots in the heat races

10 rounds and no complaints or any mention about a semi for 250. Then a title contender crashes 4 times in 10 laps and there is a panic and the whole system needs to be changed.

Never been a fan of the semis. I am fine with them live but on TV I hit the FF button.

Longer main events? It would be disastrous for the sport of SX where entertainment is key. There is a huge gap between the talent and conditioning level on the track and it would just turn the main into a more spread out freight train. Now I am all for 45 min outdoor Motos, but for SX short n sweet

Couldn't agree more. Then cut the series down to 10 rounds and you got yourself a 20 race championship.

Unfortunately, while this would likely be favorable by the teams, it wouldn't be so favorable on Felds wallet so therefore is unlikely to happen.

To be honest I like the Monster Energy Cup format of 3 10 minute motos, seems to make good racing and keeps it from getting too spread out.
I'm not out there though not sure how the riders and teams feel about it.

oh and onto the main topic, I find it hard enough to watch the 450 semi's..... I usually watch the heats and don't bother watching the semi's, then return for the main event. Adding semi's into the 250 class would push the show out further and likely degrade the track.

Awesome... Another meaningless race or two.

Why not add races that count for points? Like MEC.

^This.

The present format is 10 races, 77 laps total. 8 of the 10 races don't directly count toward the championships. That's not good.

This is what I wish they would do:

Qualifying - Use timed qualifying to get each class down to 22 riders (like MEC). Besides taking the meaningless racing out of the night program, this would also essentially eliminate incidents like J. Martin last night, RV in Jacksonville (2011), Roczen in SLC (2013), etc. An elite rider's whole season should never come down to a 4 lap LCQ.

Night Show - 6 main events, 12 laps each...

Race order
250 Race 1
450 Race 1
250 Race 2
450 Race 2
250 Race 3
450 Race 3

Plenty of opportunity in between each race for commercials, intermission, and track maintenance. Roughly the same amount of racing laps, but each race would actually matter for a change.

The way the LCQ now is only 4 laps it should be called the last chance holeshot. Jeremy Martin would of cut it close even if he hadn't of fallen.

Great idea

the more racing the better, everyone always says oh its because of time. 2.5 hr live show on tv and last night there was 67.34 minutes of actual racing not including the KTM kids race which they don't show anyways. There is plenty of time to have more semis or longer laps etc etc they just choose not to.

You think the teams would want to cut their live TV and event exposure almost in half? I don't think so.

There has never been semis for 250s as far as I remember. I think they should just add 2 more laps to make it 6.

This is an issue I have extremely strong feelings about and you have just put it better than I have ever heard your suggestion is simply perfect. That would be an absolutely freaking incredible way to run supercross. It's disheartening that 8/10 races of the night count for nothing, and despite and the puffed up fake drama about "qualifying for the main" it's the same guys in the mains week in week out other than a few privateers that shuffle in and out. It is honestly going to severely bum me out that it will never happen.

Jeremy Martin probably wishes there were semis this past weekend? I feel bad for the kid.

Whatever they decide on I think it should be the same for both classes so that it is less confusing for the average fan. One of the biggest challenges I see right now with the AMA is consistency on so many levels.

While I've always liked the semi races, this certainly seems to be an even better format. Well thought out sir!

I would like to have the Las Vegas races count for 250 points, including the East Vs West shootout.
Something like this for the evening:
250W Season final race Full points paid.
450 Race 1
250E Season final race Full points paid.
450 Race 2
250 East Vs West race (top 11 from each 250 group are in this race) Full points paid.
450 Race 3

This would take the 250 seasons from 8 points paying rounds to 10, and do it in one evening. Since the 450 series has a tendency to be over with before Las Vegas, this would make that round really exciting.

Second this , they need to change it up , even 2 - 15 lappers would do
