Actually, I like reading race reports, it was pretty commonplace on the mtb sites I used to frequent. Congrats yzjs7!

What was more rewarding, winning Beginner, or 7th in Novice?

7th in novice hands down. Racing with these guys is gonna make me better and that's what I want. Funny I can do all the jumps which not everyone in my class does, but lose time in the corners. Unfortunately no pictures, if someone on the othg site post some I'll share.
Ha. I was going to jokingly call you a sand bagger.

Two years ago, I raced the Novice class (slowest class) in our local hare scramble series. My best finish before that season was a 3rd with mainly a bunch of 5-10 finishes. But two years ago, I won one and it seemed like they just kept rolling in. Won 8 races that season and I still get the sandbagger name thrown out from my buddies.

Last season, I was bumped to the next class (Amateur) and I was not competitive at all. I think I got a 4th place finish one race but again, I was maybe top 10 out of 15-20 guys. They have bumped every guy that finished ahead of me last season so hopefully I can get some better finishes and be more competitive.

Our first race was slated for last weekend but it was cancelled due to weather. I was NOWHERE near ready. Our weather has been bad lately and I've been working a lot so I haven't ridden in 5 months. I started pounding the P90X a week ago and I plan on riding every weekend here out. This extra month is much needed!!! I've got the biggest itch to ride right now.

I'm sticking with tight single track. Less scared of the trees than I am the doubles Smile

Congrats!!
I raced 40+ beginner in 2011, and there was always someone faster than me.

I haven't ridden much since but getting back to it.

I plan on racing the 40+ beginner and 250f beginner starting next month on my 125.

Really looking forward to it!

I've been Bay Chapter off and on. Was up front in +30 Intros, and when I moved to +38 I won right away (Oatfied). I decided right then after that one race to bump myself up to Expert. The OTHG lady was cool with it so I ordered up some white background graphics and patted myself on the back. Next race at Hangtown.....dead last in +38 experts. That was over a year ago and I've been off the bike for some time now. Kind of nervous about re-upping with the Gang. But if it means getting to meet Raining Yellow....well....I think I'm going to have to send in my membership fees!

Good job Raining Yellow!

all my years of racing (13) and only once have i felt i was the fastest in my class and that lasted for all of 1/2 of a season until i got bored and moved myself up.

i could never understand the guys "racing" and winning by 20 seconds every weekend until they were forced to move up

I love racing and the feeling of passing someone you never thought you could, thats why i line up on the weekends

good on ya OP for being a true racer

Are you riding this weekend raining yellow?

I might venture over the mountain to hit hangtown, mmx, or E street if there is open practice this weekend?

If you're heading to hangtown let me know, I think I'm going to ride there on Saturday. I'll be the kid with the old blue Toyota pickup and a cr125, come say what's up!
