RV Press Conference

Whether or not that was just gamesmanship, who knows? But more than one person have said he looked pretty shattered after the race.
Wow, listening to that, the weight on that guy's shoulders must be insane! The expectations and dealing with all the criticism..

He gave the other guys all the credit.. gotta respect that

And you idiots take one simple descriptive word and seem to think I've slandered the guy.

Maybe it's lost in translation, but shattered here simply means tired.

One more thing, I gave props to RV, he had a great weekend and deserved the overall. At no point have I ever suggested otherwise.

Take a deep breath Jamma. Dealing with some people on Vital is like dealing with a buyer on Craiglist. You know you're gonna have to deal with them, so you just have to prepare yourself for stupidity. It's hard as hell sometimes, but sometimes you just gotta walk away, walk away.

One of aussie guy`s who was at the race said he saw RV walking to his truck after moto1 and he did not look good at all. It`s a tough race. He was clearly fastest but did not have it for moto2. No shame in that, he`ll get there. Cairoli picked up his laptimes by 2 sec. a lap compared to first moto. And he did it lap by lap.

If only you were in charge. Forget RV and his overall, keyboardworrier is the true American hero today.

Yeah, he's human just like anyone else. I think he's just not in race shape and probably didn't train quite as gnarly as he might have in the states with Aldon right there... who knows though

The following is just my opinion, so just take it for what it's worth.

Villopoto came out to prove a point. He pulled the trigger in the qualifier and in moto 1. In moto 2, Desalle and Cairoli fired back. That to me says a lot. They took the shot from Villopoto and returned fire. That's rare, and only Dungey has ever been able to do that, and he only did it a couple times. That big win by Cairoli was huge for the overall picture. It made a statement to Villopoto that even when Villopoto seems far superior on a given day, Cairoli can step it up. That being said, I do believe that Villopoto is still settling in and getting acclimated to things. After the 5th round, I think it'll be game on between Villopoto and Cairoli, and they will start separating themselves from the other contenders, who are obviously amazing riders as well.

I also thought that. Looks great for the series that after RV wins in a dominant fashion, Cairoli hits back immediately in the same way. Like you say not many have been able to do that to Villopoto.

I'm not buying that RV settled for the overall as soon as he got into 3rd. He was only a couple of seconds down with plenty of time left. He had been faster all weekend so surely he would try and go 1-1 and claw even more points back.
RV didn't look like the same rider in the second moto. Im wondering if he either went the wrong direction with bike changes or the heat affected him a little more than Desalle and Cairoli.

The world is putting a lot of pressure on these guys and they look to be trying to play it smart.

Apart from the last sentence , i think you nailed it.... i still think Desalle and Paulin have a lot to say about the way this will go, as well as Nagl, and Van Hoorebeek ... it wont be a 2 horse race.
I hope you're right. I'd love to see more contenders. I just think Villopoto and Cairoli will separate themselves, like they've always done in every championship they've entered throughout their entire career. After round 5, I think those two will start pulling away. Like I said, that's just my opinion. I hope it's wrong. Time will tell.

Cripes, all of them looked 'shattered'.

Keep bitching at each other about semantics, boys. Seriously, you US blokes seem to scream "victim", so bloody often.

A few fools have tried to bring into being a level of nastiness being between RV and Cairoli up on the podium.

To me, I just saw 2 blokes utterly buggered, at the end of a very difficult day. Shows the effort they (all) put in.

What stunned me, was seeing Desalle smiling.............. He's quite a taciturn bloke, and I'm a;ways delighted to see him get a smile on his dial. CD is cool - I do hope he avoids injury this year.

Mind you, he's got nothing on Tommy Searle - he seems to have a perpetual grizzle guts face on (hey, don't shoot me, yer Pommie Bastards - I like him - oh shit, I might be shot for treason for admitting to backing a Pom......). I don't blame him - 2 years in a row, he's got hurt over the main jump in Thailand - on 2 totally different tracks. Poor Blighter. I'd really hoped to see him be a big threat this year - seems to me he and a works KTM350 were made for each other. Always thought he'd be suited to a 350, and last years MXDN MX2 overall convinced me of that..

Nobody talks with Desalle in the pits. Even his teamates didn't trained with him in the states. He is a brick, But when it comes to the racing the guy is in the spot, thats all what matters in the end of the day. All about stats, clory and money

Iv just watched awesome motocross then spent the day prepping our bike for first championship round next weekend, it's my beautiful wife's birthday tomorrow so we both have the day booked off work and my boy is sat next to me cheerily singing along to a song I can't hear on his skullcandys..... Why would you think that?

It’s been a long time since Ryan has raced a two day format. This weekend he had two good motos in him. Once he gets on to the two day program, we will see more 1-1s on Sunday. It is going to be a great summer of racing for all fans.Smile

Common courtesy is to NOT post the results in the title 6 hours before the damn race has aired on TV.

Thanks for your future consideration!

i guess don't check the forum when you know damn well there will be people dropping bombs on the first page.

that said... i tuned in at 10:00 am yesterday to watch the race on tv... boy was i disappointed when they were replaying Qatar with the listing saying Thailand. i was so fucking amped to watch the race that i simply couldn't wait 7 hours till it was actually showing at 5. so, like you, i got on the web and got the results rather than waiting.

Roczen is the reigning Outdoor National Champion but you question Cairolis ability to win a National?

Try and expand your appreciation, just a little bit.

Yawn. Cairoli has no reason whatsoever for going to America. Not everyone is motivated by the money and the fame of going to race in the US. Some are, that's okay, but not going to America doesn't make you any less of a rider, and vice versa. RC only raced outside the U.S. about 6 times in his career, and he is one of the greatest to ever ride a dirtbike.

Ok, so I wasn't the only one that got hosed on that. I turned on the DVR and was like wtf? Watched the 250's last night and the 450's record tonight

No doubt Tony Cairoli could win over here, but could he win in his Second race?

Also, would he nut up and make the journey; that is why RV is receiving so much support. He had the balls to go walk the walk.

I to was seriously bummed when the morning race was a rerun of Qatar. So I told myself I was going to get on here and began reading the race thread in order until the 1st moto had completed itself as I can't watch the first moto anyways.

It was a risk, I lost. I didn't care to actually watch the race after that.
