Im trying to start planning my trip for June. Ive been to the ATL sx for the past 10 years but never a national. Any tips and advice for the trip and what ticket package to buy would is appreciated.

Just buy tickets when you get there,not sure buying early saves. Get a pitpass but they expire at 1pm.

Its hot, i saw patio umbrellas around but easyups are kinda banned in places. It hot did i say its hot,its hot.

If your are driving in for the day they shuttle you in on tractors but they get scarce after,but the cooler should be lighter then.

I'm going to have a throw down afterwards with trouble and mayhem on the grill and the jar, if I'm not in jail or dead before then.

Its hot.

Not really a bad place to watch from. It it rains park on top of the hill,lol.

Make sure you get a return ticket when you walk out the gate if you're coming back in. I drove down from WI in '13 and walked out the gate back to the car after buying some crap. Nobody around handing out tickets. Went to get back in and they told me I couldn't come in after spending $40 to get in a half hour earlier. Just as I was about to come unglued on that mf'er, the dude let us back in.

Sunscreen and don't be in a hurry to leave. 1st year parking was not awful but last year was horrible. Pretty good viewing all around. I do not believe you save much for purchasing tickets early, but it does seem to speed up your entry. Beer food etc and it will be a great day.

Went the first year as a day outing and had fun. Last year we arrived Thursday night and camped out. We got arm bands that let us go just about anywhere anytime over the weekend. Rode practice on Friday. Just need to prepare like a normal weekend at the track.

Oh yea.....like Hillbilly said. Its hot

Ironically, we have a school in my town named Grant. I'm from the same town as President Harding so our theme is the Presidents. All the schools are named after Ohio presidents.

How about polar opposites? One region despises a man for what he did, another celebrates him and names schools after him. I don't know why I find that so interesting.

As for the OP ... 2 week vacation Red Bud then a week exploring the thrilling upper midwest then Millville.

Get the ALL DAY pit passes!!! There are way too many good vantage points to view the race that are locked down in the pro pits. In fact, a lot of the viewing of the track is in the pro pits. lol The first year, the wife and I were lucky enough to just walk in the pits all day even though we had morning passes only .. And swore from them on we would have the all day passes.. We stood right next to the RCH semi right on the fence and Carmichael walked right by us several times and Big James was standing next to us at a fence (same section) for an entire moto, So worth it .. Do your self the favor .. I think it's worth the extra few bucs Wink

I don't think Grant is despised here really its just what his face on that bill represents. Sherman though another story.

A few miles from me is a place called bull's gap, the railroad ended there and one road came thru to pick up the rail 20 miles north. We were surveying a piece of land that went to the ridge tops. Once up there i notice these huge embankments but the trees growing thru were very old and it hit me that they were to protect that road. Found a cannonball about 4 inches in diameter up there.

More violence happened here after the war than when it was actually going on,guess it was like that a lot of places.

Get the VIP package. It includes parking close to the entrance, free program, food provided (lots of variety and it was good), fans blowing in the VIP seating area, air conditioned restrooms, track side viewing, unlimited pit access. I got the package for my son and I last year.

Have fun if you go.
