Why RV has a good shot..........

Edited Date/Time 2/17/2015 2:57am
I've been thinking about this for a while......everyone doubted he'd even race the gps.....well......he wants to and he wants to succeed. I feel it will be close between him and AC but if he stays healthy RV is the champ. Not because I'm american, or because he is. I hated AC after buds moon but appreciate what he has done since. Here is where RV will shine. #1 is consistency, I feel he will be no worse then 6th in any moto. #2 is speed. He has the ability to just wick it up. #3 is his RC like ability to change direction, whether he starts on the throttle on his entrance into a bowl turn or he switches line, crosses the track and takes a win like he did to Dungey a few years back in the last turn,. He can carry speed on the outside or point and shoot just like RC did. I feel this change of direction may be the biggest factor to spoil AC as he'll be on a 350 and momentum is his friend. #4 RV will be bringing the US intensity level. No starting out slow, he'll be at 180 heart rate for 40 minutes wide open. Some side notes. I feel AC, Desalle, Paulin and some others will all be fast lap guys and even get wins. I do not see Rattray getting a win but some podiums. RV really does have track diversity in his favor as well. He has won on every type of dirt known to man. Acs key for another championship will be train harder, start off in first place and never let off. If he let's off he will be passed by 3-4 guys at once. The occasional moto where RV starts mudpack he will make quick work up to the top 5 and then be able to grab another gear at the halfway point. AC is obviously the favorite as he is a multi time champ. I am just curious to see what RV brings to change up the monotony.

All of your post are absolutely worthless.

Just buy a french mag today where one of the kawasaki team member say: "We were in the USA to test. He was the fastest on the track each and every time and there was GP guys. We've seen Strijbos, Coldenhoff, Desalle."

Seems like he met those guys on the track and was faster than them.

Also, I remember an itw of Coldnnhoff saying RV was unreal at Glen Helen and tracks like this. I mean, if GC found RV unreal even though he train with KJ all winter... jk

In Valence last weekend, on a very muddy track, Rattray was 10 or more second slower that the euro Suzuki guys. If, as they say, RV is two seconds faster than TR, you do the math....
Conditions in Europe are totally different, don't get exited too soon.

Seems to me like you have it wrapped up.

Hell, why even go racing? Lets just save everyones budget and give it to the race fans.

Why does everyone think that AC is the only other racer in the MX1 class?

That is easily the worse logic I've ever heard.

That track was a mess, if you didn`t get a good start you were screwed. Laptimes there meant shit.

I don't think it's a suprise that RV is the fastest "in the USA"....even thr Euro's would probably concede that, but on new and different tracks nothing is a given

RV is the fastest in the US. There is no question about that.
I don't see it being different when he races over here, in the GPs. He will win races, and maybe even the championship. Only difference is, that he will face the strongest competitor for the championship he has ever raced against. AC is a different animal than RD5, a win or crash JS7 and all the others. And yes, over the course of a complete season, I only count AC as his real competition. Guys like Desalle, Strijbos, Paulin or Nagl are able to win races, but not consistent enough for the long haul.

another point im gunna add is that all this TC222/RV2 debate has only added fuel to the fire of all the other unbelievable racers in the MX1 CLASS. dont be surprised if it isnt RV or TC who wins the title because some of the other guys are gunna be more determine than ever to spoil that party!!.

Are there other racers? On a serious note, I do not think they will have the consistency to battle RV2 and AC222 for the title.

AC222 is one of the greatest motocrossers of all time. He is a beast on the bike.

Additional note..... so is RV2. RV2 is a beast --- hell I would not shy putting money on him vs. RC, RJ, Hannah, Glover, and Ward.

Its titan vs titan. Its going to be great racing - hope both of these fellas are healthy throughout the series. May the best man win.

In regards to point 4: I agree that the AMA riders probably do ride with a touch more intensity than their GP counterparts - partly due to Supercross and partly due to the AMA tracks which tend to flow better and consist of more forgiving terrain, and perhaps superior preparation (depending on how you look at things).

I have no doubt that he can bring some of that intensity to some of the GP tracks, for instance I think he'll win Qatar right away. But generally speaking there's a reason why the GP riders simply have to treat many of the traditional GP circuits with greater respect. Not to say that RV can't win on those tracks too - of course he'll still be extremely fast regardless of where he races. But if this thing is close (and I think it will be) then that greater edge of comfort will definitely favour AC. Good news for Ryan is that, with so many new tracks that no one has ever seen before in 2015, he couldn't have picked a better year to try.

Who's saying RV is slower than Tyla?

In December I spent a chunk of a day watching the two of them ride at a private track. Each time, Tyla would be the rabbit, and RV would start some distance behind him. Both motos, RV reeled him in, and gapped him. Tyla said it makes for good training for both of them, but he was also shaking his head, trying to figure out how to stay in front of him.

This really. Last years people have been there and keeping the red plate for some rounds (Desalle, Paulin ...). I am personally a big Van Horebeke fan and hope he'll be up there all season. Was really excited when he won a 450 gp last season. Which he did in fantastic style by catching and passing AC. (i think it was one of the Italian GP rounds not sure)
This season is leading to some crazy bench racing. Qatar can't come soon enough.

I won't deny for a second that RV has a good shot at being world champ, he has a great chance. But I will say that I don't agree with your points on where RV has an advantage, a lot of the areas where you've said that Villopoto has an advantage are also Cairoli's strong points. For example, consistency, the ability to turn it up and find another gear and getting out front early and making a gap are all things that Cairoli has shown multiple times in his career. Cairoli has the advantage when it comes to track diversity as well.

All this just points to a great season, 2 of the best the sport has ever seen, both with similar strengths, doing battle for 18 rounds. With many other riders who are capable of winning and have a point to prove thrown in for good measure. I really can't wait for next weekend

Agree 100%. This is my MotoDynasty prediction for Qatar...

The MXGP class is genuinely very competitve this year. I know that statement gets repeated a lot by Europeans, but the field is stonger than I remember it being for a long time. Starts will be more important than ever and if any of the title favourites get a mid pack start they're going to find it tough to make their way to the front. Not only will the pace be high, there are plenty of riders who are not going to rollover easily.
