I was also a little pissed at the slamming on Baggett to be honest. YES....he struggled in the sand.....guess what?.....we don't have that shit here. Put us all on dirt ( a level playing field where every county has a shot )........and lets do it.

Bringing up how the Americans got whooped in the sand has been over played so much it's stupid. I wish we had some sand tracks here like that....but we don't.

But you'll have guys throw an MXoN's sand race into the argument.....and then use that to wash away everything we have done over the past 30yrs. I'm not coming on here and pounding my chest about how American riders go over there and stomp the crap out of everyone.......but I'll be damn if If some jagoff slams one of my riders for getting beat on a track surface in which we can't practice.
I have not even been a part of this thread until now. Trying my best to stay away from the bashing. But at some degree we all have an urge to defend ourselfs. I personally have nothing to defend in threads like this, I enjoy racing, no matter what country it's in or who's racing (do I have to mention Sweden doesn't have much to bring to table?). But I have a hard time taking all the shit thrown just because where we live. Euro that, Euro this. But it's the same either way. Some have a harder time dealing with it than others. One thing though, most of us visit this place at different times than others, so when you come back the other side of this planet have been brewing some things up and you just can't wait to get back at them. I seriously don't think I would've any less of a good time hanging out in person with anyone on here just because of where they're located.

It was directed at him and only him. Same shit Muhommed used to do. Same shit Geoff would do. Having a Brit brag that a guy from the Netherlands beat an American , How an Italian guy beat an American.......doesn't matter which country the rider comes from......but if he beat an American.....he'll rub it in our face.

And me.....besides my stupid fishing thread last week , when have I seriously ever down played the GP's or it's riders.....ever? Jamma and some of you others know me and what I post here.....and I usually don't call anyone out unless they deserve it.
you consistently and constantly slam Jeffrey Herlings at every single opportunity..... calling him far worse names than anyone has said about Blake

and sand is found in every country, check out Florida or the north-east or California, or Nevada or Arizona....

I agree 100% Olson !

I don't know why the hell I even entered this thread. They always turn out the same way.

Do you think the promoters want National Pride to fuel the series?
What is wrong with thumping your chest and rooting for your countrymen?
Has Liberalism made you feel guilty about supporting your Country?
Do you also have White Guilt?
Just speaking my mind, feel free to chest thump, I may call you an idiot but I'll never stop you. I think most of it is rooted in ignorance or stupidity is all, the rest of it is intended to elicit a reaction (perhaps I'm a fish...).

I root for Team USA as I am proud of our riders and who they represent. I also recognize that the riders from other countries are just as fast or competitive and deserving of my mutual respect and admiration.

What I dislike about the chest thumping so prominent in these threads is that it is mostly founded in double standards and "exceptionalism's". A lot of these folks don't seem to see both sides of the coin in this argument of Nationals vs GPs.

Do I think the series promotors foster nationalism? Obviously yes, some get quite excited and frothy at the prospect of questioning a series's prominenence. I just acknowledge each series for what they are. National pride is of the most base human tendencies, what I dislike about it is that it is a convenient vehicle for people to get riled up over stupid shit and miss out on learning or experiencing something new or foreign to them. Chances are that the average American MX fan has more in common with the average GP fan, than not. But some will never acknowledge that because they continue down the timeless us vs them nonsense. We have a chance to share an amazing spectacle of two MX greats squaring off for 18 rounds of MX, some will never appreciate it for what it is because they can't see past their pride, that is sad.

Now if you are offended by what I typed, or thought it was demeaning to others, well sometimes words hurt. People are free to think how they want, I do not have authority over them. But I can have an opinion about them, as I'm sure you do too.

Not sure why you brought up Liberalism or white guilt topics?

I don't like Herlings.....that is the truth. But slam on him all the time? I don't think so.

Would I like to see guys like AC and RV whoop his ass in a series.....well hell yes I would.

Do I think two years ago when the rules were re-written for JH84 to stay in the MX2 class because he threatened to come to America was pure chickenshit? Yeah I do.

So he got his extra year in MX2.......but oh look.....he's staying down i MX2 .....again. Wonder why?

I'll tell you why........because in a complete series AC would of beat him. And now with RV coming over.......fuck yes he's staying in MX2.

That's the reason I don't care for him. He would rather sandbag in a class he knows he can win , instead of moving up for a new challenge.

I'm not talking an age thing here.....there is no competition for him in MX2. Mean while....Roczen is on his 2nd year of the 450's here in the states competing in MX and SX.......and he's only 4mo's older than JH84. But Jeffrey is going for another year in the MX2 class in the GP's.

Greatest rider in the world? Pfft! Please!

I'm not sure if some of this is geared towards me......but I'm a huge fan of the GP's and the riders....always have been. There are certain riders I don't care for on both sides of the pond. Just like there are some certain posters here on this board I don't care for....on both sides of the pond.

That's rich coming from the guy that started a thread with the title "So will RV win Qatar.....by 30 sec's or less?" and the first line of the thread was "We already know he's gonna whoop em"

Not directed at any sole person, just my opinion after getting sucked into this thread.

Having raced on both sides of the Atlantic and seen it with my own eyes... I know that owning a US passport doesn't entitle you to be fast. Unless you go out on track and see for yourself, you don't have a clue... I hate the 'he must be better because he is American ' BS..

And baggett didn't just struggle in the sand.. He was pretty poor at St Jean too.. Ok in the heat when he got the start, but both of the mains he just didn't look like anyone special at all. I know he fell. But just he demeanor on the bike was one that didn't look like an AMA champ..

Let's turn around the favour and call out all Americans that slam the GP's. And rub it in our face every damn chance they get...

Lol! But that's true!

That's hardly anti-American.

And I'm not Aussie!

None.. Just got one national title over here Thx.. Did get to ride AMA pro series and beat Mickey dymond.. sorry if that's not enough... Oh, and I did race in USA v EUROPE Race over in Belgium.. Think I out qualified Kevin Schwantz too. And in the ultimate ironic twist, I raced for team USA.. Didn't make me any faster though

Just a question I didn't want to start a new thread for. If RV wins the number one plate this season ( good chance ) and retires Kawasaki still will not get to run the number 1 plate on their bike in 2016? Will the #1 sit in the pits?

Sorry if my genuine response to gharmon upset you simply because it was of Herlings,

I'm not for starting threads deliberately attacking the other side of the pond but I'll be dammed not to defend the DB comments that come up everytime any of us "Euros" talk on anything, from a Herlings thread maybe but even the Italian Championship,it's always the same shit, often with Keyboardwarrior,mx836 starting the ball rolling

Go trawl through and find anywhere I or even most of the Euros mentioned in here ever started any of the crap,Olson is right about us taking the shit,I've brought up Baggetts results before but only in response to the predictable bollocks eg "Searle won X amount of GP Motos but looked like an amateur outdoors" etc,the guy is insanely fast at the Nationals, his MXdN results are a blip, post Lommel was pretty tame on here too btw the Euros could've had a feild day rubbing it in,especially after the pre race stuff

"This wasn't a great day for BB either, can't understand why he was that far down, not a true reflection" was pretty light going if I'd wanted to slam the guy, neither do I slam the series, argue back and forth maybe,no more than anyone on either side,RV coming over is awesome,I'm huge a fan of both GP's and Nationals, and fortunate to have seen both

The banter goes both ways you know,as I say if you don't like a post,go read the one it's in response to

The reason you weren't faster is because your NOT an American.

Sorry couldn't resist and I'm just joking.

I think it's cool we get to see one of our best race the gps, just like I think it's cool when some of the best from the gps come here and race. I also understand why most on either side don't go to the other series. There's no way to know which is better or faster until they race an actual season with multiple races on different style tracks because one race (mxdn) doesn't do that.
2/14/2015 3:57pm
Dude let it go, no rider ever gets unanimous adoration from fans, never have never will. To say "how many national titles do you have" every time some one points out a poor performance is ridiculous. Blake is obviously a complete badass, with some mediocre results at his most recent mxdn races, don't get so butthurt when it's pointed out. You keep saying stuff like "you are nowhere nears as talented" to guys that are almost certainly way more talented than you (robgvx has podiumed MX GPs and done well at mxdns ffs). Imagine how annoying it would be if they (robgvx philG) bitched with your level of passion every time someone posted something they didn't agree with. Point is I don't recall them ever just shutting down someone's opposing opinion on the premise of "I'm faster or I was faster than you" but you love using it.... And they would wax most of the posters on this board.

But... But .... i had the license and everything... LOL

Getting to race guys who i watched on TV was awesome, getting to beat some of them was unreal. Only shame is i never got to see the OLN TV coverage, but it will turn up at somepoint i suppose.

Its a shame the AMA turned supermoto in SX moto... regular guys like me could run with anyone , until it came to the jumps , they went a bit nuts and it stopped us having a chance... using Grant Langston as a speed marker to clear a step up tabletop when you arent him , is pretty scary.
