What SX race in 2014 was absolutely epic? (School assignment)

It's for a school assignment. I'm doing a powerpoint on Supercross and Motocross in general. Do you guys know in which race they really battled it out last year (or at least pretty recent) in Supercross?

Toronto was epic of course, but so was A1. Stewart coming through the pack to (almost) win then crashing out, Villo going down, the rookie Roczen taking his first 450SX win, etc. There was a lot going on at that race

A2 Reeds win from way back. Unexpected, emotional. Was awesome.

Not a Bubba fan but Toronto was number 2. That was a display of true talent that hasn't been seen in many years. The year that Bubba endoed at Daytona was the last time I seen him ride like that. Before he crashed he was logging lap times 2 secs a lap faster than anyone. End of race his times stood at 2 secs faster.

Toronto was epic because of what James was doing, tho in a way, because he was the only one doing it, the uneducated fan might not have seen the race as being that great... They don't understand that the rest of the guys are fucking amazing too, James just had a night like he had most of the 2007 season where he was just on and riding like no one else was there... He actually made everyone look pretty ordinary but non Moto people just think you turn the throttle and the bike does the work.

For a school assignment, A2 might be easier to talk about, the story of an old dude making a comeback from a potentially career ending injury, poor season prior, own team, passes through the pack, equals most wins ever in that stadium, stands on his sponsors banner to celebrate and the crowd loses their shit...

I tend to agree with this. A2 was kind of unreal in the way it unfolded... I'm also a bit biased because I was there. Tongue

Anyone who was watching Reed triple into that rhytm section after whoops and gaining ground every lap knew something special was going down... and the way it happened was like someting out of a movie. As you said: old guy, builds own team/program, moves through pack, etc... and to end it with the standing on the banner. And it wasn't just that section of fans he was in front of giving him a standing ovation. The whole stadium was standing through the last few laps of the race and screaming well after the checkers...

I actually re-watched that race the week before A1 to "hype" myself up for the new season haha.

Roger De Coster would be a cool subject hence he's Belgian and almost nobody knows him ...

Regarding your original question, it is difficult to choose between A2 and Toronto. A2 was an awesome race with each championship contender in the mix and the resurgence of Chad Reed. So much emotions and power in that victory. Toronto however was maybe the last time we saw the truly great domination of James Stewart. RV also went to hospital, completely sick and still raced to make the main event and got 5th (?) or something. The difference between the speed of JS and the rest was just so obvious. Awesome race as well!

PS: I would also mention Supercross is one of the few sports that keeps increasing in spectator views AND the average age of the viewer is lowering as well (mentioned in "Behind The Dream", I think last episode (6))
