I have your answer to that.
I hve a BS in Psychology and used it to provide various supports to people with Mental Illness and/or developmental disabilities for 10+ years. A little over 3 years focused on children and adults on the Autism spectrum. Somehow managed to come away from that work being the legal guardian for an adult with autism and severe developmental disabilities who didn't really have anyone else to watch out for him.
Switched gears in terms of working in the system after burning out a little bit and now I am a software analyst for utility company here in the Midwest. Mostly a crappy job being a cubicle jockey and dealing with f'd up office politics but the big software is fun to play with.
I am building Cloud software on the side and hope to have my first finished product on the market within the next 6 months and then I walk out of this cubicle for the last time and get back into riding.
I have a BS in Pure Mathematics and a CA secondary teaching credential

Have a coplete wood shop with everything from shapers,planers,joiners,routers,bandsaw,tablesaw. Made everything for my house,trim,crown,banisters,tables,etc. Love the sawdust.
Everything on my farm that wasn't here before me I built. Never taken a auto to a shop in my life,
My 1st vehicle was a 71 datsun truck,rebuilt the engine in my basement room at 14 ,rolled outside in a wheelbarrow and installed it with a boompole on the tractor.
If i cant do something i go learn how. Then buy the tools needed, my tool collection for all that is really unbelievable.
My dad and grandad are were land surveyors so logical I'd do that.
Prior to becoming an inspector I was a soils tech for a few years. I learned a lot about soil mechanics and have done just about every type of materials testing there is, both in the lab and (mostly) in the field. I loved the mix of field and lab work and some of the equipment I worked with was ultra high tech. Back in '88 I was running a mini electronic cone penetrometer that was mounted on an F-250, with an on-board computer and printer, as part of siting studies for the small ICBM program. This was wayyy before computers were in the mainstream.
Raced dirtbikes for a living (4-5 times per week) as a SoCal pro from age 15 to 24, then fucked around humiliating myself by racing speedway for two years. Did all the MX test riding and photos for Cycle World magazine from 1977 to 1984. Had rides with all four Japanese factories on various levels, at various times. I'd blown off academic scholarships out of high school, thinking I'd race till I was 85 years old, but miscalculated by a year or two. After knee and wrist injuries retired me, I didn't do much for a few years, other than play golf and too much blow. Eventually went back to school. After a couple of years and getting an AA, I dropped out and worked for a developer friend in Palm Desert, doing customer service and final walk-throughs at a couple of country clubs that he built, Woodhaven CC and Rancho Mirage CC. I mostly just golfed, up to 36 holes a day and got my hdcp down to a 9. I lucked into the soils gig soon after that...
I had networked and maintained relationships with most of my MX sponsors and friends during those years away from the sport, so when Al Gore finished inventing the Interweb thingie, I jumped back into the industry with both feet, landing on the old Mototalk board, where I schooled Bobby M and was nice to everybody. ;-) Judged the first IFMA seasons for Pace, co-founded Wonder Warthog Racing and ran our privateer support programs for a few years, pinning a red cape on unsuspecting riders on the starting line. I also conspired with TFS to bring all you slackers over to Motodrive from Motonews. It was all part of his evil plan. LOL!
I also write a column for Cycle News called Friendly Fire and a blog for Guy B here at Vital that I've been dropping the ball on...shit! Written freelance stuff for Racer X, TransWorld MX and some other mags over the years.
But really, the most gratifying thing (besides raising my daughter) I've ever done, and still do, is my Big Air Kid's Fair at Loma Linda Children's Hospital. Our 12th Annual event is coming up in the next few weeks.
And I have no idea why they do this but pre-check seems to mean nothing anymore as they route the "regular" people into the pre-check lane all the time so you're again waiting and waiting..both "issues" should mean quick times through security but only to the ID check, then you're stuck waiting. I thought Pre-Check was supposed to be someone who was cleared to not have a bomb on them through a background check but LAS terminal 3 people get waved thru there regularly.
Can I just drop your name "I know JPT on Vital..." ?
It's just frustrating to see empty lanes that could serve the pre-check or first class lanes and no one seems to care about "regular" people being put thru a lane where you have less security.
