My first job in the industry was working part-time at a small Kawasaki dealer in my home town. I started in September 1984. I continued working there until I went to college. While I was in college I stepped away from the industry and worked in the bicycle and windsurfing industry. I graduated from USD with a BSBA with an emphasis in economics and a minor in history.
After graduation I had 2 job offers...one in a bank and one in a fast-growing dealership in my home town. I decided to continue selling fun rather than help people go deeper in debt. I worked at the dealership for 8 years.
In 2002 I started working as an outside sales consultant for Tucker Rocky Distributing. I cover Eastern Nebraska, the Western edge of Iowa and Southeastern South Dakota.
The last few years it's been tough watching the industry struggle. I have a lot of friends and colleagues that have lost their jobs and have gone on to other careers. Despite the slight amount of growth the industry has experienced over the last couple years it has a long road ahead to regain it's strength. On the bright side the industry has always been relatively small and with the right conditions a small industry can have some pretty significant growth in a short amount of time.
As I look back on 30 years of selling fun I'm proud of the fact that I've made it this far. I still get the same feeling when I'm on the way to my favorite riding area with my family as I did nearly 45 years ago when my dad and I hauled home my first dirtbike.

Process Engineer responsible for supplier quality at a large company, it pays the bills and lets me travel a bit. I also dabble in photography specializing in sports with a passion for Motocross/Supercross, even show a few images here and there and run into some great people.

15 years in RE development, last 7 as a VP with a Fortune 500 listed home builder.

When everything economy related took a shit in 07/08, took an invitation and joined my soon to be retiring father-in -law in his lifelong automotive related businesses. Municipal law enforcement towing contracts, auctions, auto salvage, all has been a great experience.

Cool to see so many in the machining and fabrication industries! I've been an outside sales guy for 15 years, the last 4 have been in technical sales representing 3M abrasives, and most recently, machine tooling (Kennametal, etc). I cover Maine and NH. Good living but a ton of driving. Really love to have my own business someday, and it would be a dream come true if it had something to do with motorcycles. Just a pipe dream at this point...

I've worked in the industry since 2002 as a sales rep. about 4 years ago I felt like my career had hit a wall and I was looking for a new challenge. In April of 2013 I was asked to take on law enforcement sales (specifically motor officer patrol) and have found a new passion. I wear so many different hats now that it keeps me busy non-stop. I am finally using my degree that I went to college for and it gives me great satisfaction seeing a motor officer wearing our products. There is a lot more to do but I'm proud of how much I have done over the years.

I also work part-time for Vitalmx as a struggling comedian. Wink Tongue

Bro, you could have helped a bro out while I was redoing my bedroom and bathroom.

To add to this topic, I also do tons of honey-do work at my house.

I rode my 450 yesterday(keeping it moto related)

Good off season thread.

How about the non-moto people restrain from name calling so we can continue the positive vibe and direction this thread had?
