Theyre about to make an example out of him. Lets let someone in Europe decide what happens with series in America. Good idea AMA.
FIM stands for Federation of International Motorcycling. You see that international bit, it covers the whole world. The FIM just happens to be based in Europe.

For what it's worth, DV tweeted this:

"No Stew in SX/MX this season??? I just lost my mojo and might quit Twitter again..."

No shit. My point was that it's an international organisation, not just "some guy in Europe" who isn't connected to what's happening in the USA.

They really should have their own drug testing policies, rules, etc and that would rlimunste tge cold medication problem. I don't know of many others that even test for that.
But.
This seribg how it's run by the circus and ran like a circus, maybe it's time we stop calling it professional.

You're basing that on...what?

A lot will depend on when a potential penalty is initiated from.

Do any of you know why all sports have a ban on some cold medicines? A lot of cold medicines have amphetamines in them. Not to long ago the abuse of Sudafed in every professional locker room was rampant where players were taking very high doses of Sudafed because it helped there concentration and focus levels....sound familiar....Amphetamine is also a main ingredient of Adderall.
You cannot compare the rules of our drug policies to that of the NFL, MLB, NBA or the NHL because all those policies are negotiated between the owners and the players union through collective bargaining that is why they are all different.

For those that are crying foul they have no clue as to the process that WADA, the FIM and James Stewart and their collective legal teams have gone through to get to this point. The total lack of logic and emotion that is in this thread is mind blowing...YOU DON't EVEN KNOW IF THERE IS A PENALTY OR WHAT IT IS...Whatever it may be I'm pretty sure it was agreed and accepted by ALL parties involved...

He is still riding.. in instagram..

The good thing about this situation is that if the riders weren't clear before, it's now very apparent that ignorance of the proper procedures is not an excuse.

Kudos to Yoshimura Suzuki for standing by JS7 through all of this. If the penalty is 12months plus, do we think they will hold a spot open for James?

So what happened about it being OK to race outdoors because the Nationals weren't an FIM sanctioned event?

If i was him i wouldnt give an interview to anyone. That is a pathetic shame! Punishment yes. Suspending him for that long is disgusting!

Any rumor on whether it is backdated or not? That has been done with some cyclists and the suspension basically is over at the start of a season.

No one really knows what has gone on. Methinks that if there was a plausible explanation for all of this "mistake" that the Stewart camp would be putting out that news to shape public opinion and sponsor perception. That explanation might have included the fact that he had prior Rx's for the med for quite some time and records for its legitimate purchase through a pharmacy for the same prior time period. That, too, has been done with some cyclists to get a much reduced and backdated suspension.

The delay to a decision is very troubling, but may have been due to wrangling over a negotiated disposition and/or production of records.

Who knows... Just finalize it and let JS7 and everyone else move on and focus on the racing.

The elephant in the room is- how will the mainstream media handle this?
James is a BIG STAR. All those TV spots on the world's biggest news channels- the ads...Bubba's World.

My prediction is it's going to blow up big, since the general population will assume he is a cheater. This could very well be his McGwire moment!
In some ways it will be big promotion for the upcoming season. And maybe signal to the larger world that MX is a legit sport. It just totally sucks that James' career might be the sacrificial lamb.

I think you may be overstating the exposure this sport gets. It may be buried on the X games section of ESPN, or perhaps buried on yahoo. But I doubt it makes any waves on most mainstream media. If you were being sarcastic, then disregard everything I just said, haha

I don't think the majority of the general population has any idea who James Stewart is and don't really care, SX/MX is a pretty small sport. I could not name even one monster truck other than Big foot and SX is in the same class as monster trucks, if even that big. Blush

A "fall from grace" is always a huge story.
As much as we love putting heroes on pedestals, we enjoy kicking 'em off and watching them fall twice as much.
Sucks. James seems like a good person and he represented the sport so well. He launched a whole new way of riding a motorcycle.
